I was surprised when Little Giant chose to solicit a Google review 10 months after ghosting me but I left one and I'll share it here: take your project elsewhere. I manipulate projected maps in performance with improvising musicians. I build tours around cartography/geography conferences and conferences were scheduled for Pittsburgh & Baltimore in Oct 2023. My goal was to assemble a 5 week tour from Portland Maine to DC, Pittsburgh, Baltimore, and on to New York City. Little Giant seemed a good venue. Close to the conference hotel, "full AV capabilities (sound & light systems, projector screen … a small bar … Standing room capacity: 60, Seated capacity: 30." I wrote them in June asking about availability in mid-October, screen size, how many chairs they owned. 8 days later, a manager contracted me, not answering my questions but expressing interest in my work and saying he'd speak with the ************ owner over the weekend about performing in their larger space as a "booked act". I've performed in a 200 seat museum cinema but normally it's ~30 people in a gallery so it was an interesting offer. I followed up after the weekend, then again 9 days later, but it was 17 days before I heard back. I was focused on venues in other cities and didn't realize the delay would prevent my performance from being listed in the conference registration system. 300-500 people attend these conferences, registering in advance. Either their job pays for it or they write it off as a work expense. To not have the details nailed down when the system went live cost me, based on the previous year's experience, over $200 in ticket sales. When the manager did follow up he said the owner didn't think it a good fit for ************. I asked again for details about Little Giant but that and subsequent emails went unanswered. Little Giant then subscribed me to their events emails without permission. I unsubscribed and hadn't given them any thought until the request for a review came in last week.
