We had Amerigas for 10 plus years. Without realizing it we were overcharged for gas along with other random tank rental fees etc. We always paid prior to delivery. We switched services a year ago when Amerigas prices were 3 times that of another local provider. Prior to switching we verified that we didnt owe money and there would be no charges such as a tank removal fee. Now were getting statements saying we owe $350.00, Ive called numerous times to inquire and Im told we dont owe anything. Now they sent me to collections! DO NOT Do BUSINESS WITH AMERIGAS!!Review fromJin C

Amerigas deserves a negative score, one star is way too generous. After numerous failed deliveries of propane promptly during the cold winter, and numerous calls trying to resolve the issues, we decided to cancel the service around July 2024, and finally spoke with someone who had cancelled the service in November. Even cancelling services took numerous calls. But the tank was left on my driveway from 11/24 until 5/25, six months later, and Amerigas wants to charge us $428.68 for pickup and service charges. Amerigas is unable to provide the documents to prove that we agreed to this charge, and we don't recall signing any documents/contracts. From what I know, the charge was implanted in November of 2024. We called in July to cancel the service and requested tank pick up, but they failed to do so, and now the customer is bearing the costs. Very poor customer service, stay away from this business if you can.Review fromKate K

Absolutely disgusting company. We bought a home that had a rented take. We had to take over the contract. We then had the tank removed because we installed our own that was significantly larger. We had called to go over what was involved and any fees associated with the removal. They never mentioned a fee to remove the tank. I surprisingly received a bill for a few hundred dollars to remove the tank. I called asking for a copy of the contract indicating that there was a fee for removal and that once I received it, I would happily pay it. I had to call several times asking for this. Eventually they turned me into be collections. When I called the collections agency explaining that I am happy to pay the full amount and I would just like a copy of the contract. They told me to please call AmeriGas back. Eventually AmeriGas sent a copy of my contract. I agreed to pay the full amount and they informed me they would be removing all of the late fees because I only had them because I was waiting for the contract. They said they were sending a new invoice. I never received the new invoice. Weeks later, I receive another letter from a collections agency with late fees still on. I call AmeriGas back and ask them why there are still late fees and they said they cant remove all of them and I now must have to pay at least one of them. They did not care that the reason there were late fees is because they never sent me documentation of my contract. I still paid the full amount and they also informed me they will be charging me a service fee to pay over the phone with my credit card. They even acknowledged that they never sent the new invoice in order for me to pay it! It was an absolutely horrible experience. I have perfect credit and have agreed to pay the full amount and because of their negligence to send me information they agreed to send me several times I end up having to pay more money. I do not recommend using them.Review fromVIOLA E

Awful customer service. Hard to speak with representative in the ***. Their billing department leaves you on hold and do not connect to a supervisor when requested. I have closed my account and do not wish to deal with them again. When they owe you they will make up charges to justify not refunding you. When you owe them; they will draft your account. DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THIS CUSTOMER.Review fromQM K

I used Amerigas successfully for propane refill from 2020 through 2024 with zero problems (hence the 2 stars instead of 1). Recently, in 2025, I ordered 400 gallons and paid up front online. They delivered 800 gallons instead 400 and billed me for the 400 extra gallonsover $1400 extra, past due. They would not have someone pump the extra out, and they would not, as I requested, discount the delivery (which I do not need, as I am trying to sell my house and dont even live there full time right now!). They offered to read the tank meter when I sell the house and refund me what I have not used, but I declined, as that does not resolve the situation for me: I have legitimately hundreds of other things Im juggling for the house sale on top of working and living full time elsewhere, and I refuse to make this my problem to remember when this was entirely their error. They offered me a payment plan, which I declined because that is not the problem: Frankly, Im lucky that I can cover the extra cost and it wont go to collections. Thats not a small amount of money, and this is a stupid situation. The problem is NOT that I cannot pay or that I now have more gas than I need, but that on principle this is their screw-up, and they should own and fix it. I will not be using Amerigas again, and I will suggest that my buyers to go elsewhere for propane.Review fromKaitlyn S

I purchased my home in the fall and Amerigas was the owner of the propane tank that was already on my property at time of purchase with winter coming fast I ordered the propane asking before the propane was delivered if I would be held to a contract and being told no I purchased the propane. I was quoted 1.80 per gallon for the 1st 12 months. My first fill was a 1.80 per gallon and in just those 6 winter months my price per gallon reached 2.50. I have all receipts still. In December of 24 I called when my propane tank was at 35% they guaranteed no later then 10 days for delivery after 17 days and my tank reaching 12% I called them again because I have small children that cannot be in winter months with no heat, they told me it would be delivered in 24 hours received 3 reschedules for an unsafe driveway Instead. Even though my driveway was plowed and salted then they charged me a ***************************************************************************** even sent a bill! Then I contacted them and told them they needed to refund the money because they took 20 days to deliver instead of guaranteed 10 and it's not my fault they were late. Every delivery after that one in December had the same out come till ***** fighting with them to deliver the propane I had purchased. Finally was able to switch distributor that switched everything and even left the tank down my driveway for Amerigas to pick up. Contacted them to pick up the tank and they are trying to charge me a hidden fee of 300 dollars even though the tank has been on the property for years and saying that I have a contract with them because the terms and conditions as of Oct of 24 state that I agree to all terms and conditions when I purchase propane from them when I never signed a contract and was never notified of new terms and conditions. They told me that I should have read carefully over the terms and conditions which are on the website and laughed. I spent 5 hours of my life for someone to laugh at me.Review fromJudy Y

Feb 1, 2025. I mailed a letter of termination with a statement. At that time you owed me $934.87. I continued to send multiple notices thru your contact me messager to discontinue. I spoke with your representative who stated a check would be cut and mailed to me. I have never gotten any money. Today, I called again and was told by ***** that because I terminated and closed the account, a check could not be mailed to me. I will appreciate any help you can give me to receive the money, your company owes me.Review fromKatrina L

The Amerigas saga continues a year later and they wont provide phone transcripts. To recap 1. Had my tank filled 4/2024 and was put on auto delivery so my tank would never again be empty 2. 9/2024 auto delivery came (as expected) =happy customer 3. 2/13/2025 Empty tank. Set up urgent delivery with a charge of ****** (to be invoiced) even though I was on auto delivery and this shouldnt have happened. 4. Confirmed delivers 2/14-2/15/25 (see screenshot) - no delivery the 14, 15, 16, or 17th. 5. Contacted Amerigas to be told the driver was on the way m. Agent also removed the 300 fee due to the issues. 6. After hours of no delivery, recontacted Amerigas to be told no driver was on way and I needed to pay ****** and thats why no one had delivered. After logging in, theres NO request for 300 plus the agent had removed it 7. Now on another call with someone who says they are the HIGHEST person available to talk with and that I shouldnt call corporate. He now says it will be another week before they can deliver. 8. 2/17/25 After talking w them, I decided to cancel my service with them and try another company. I was assured there would not be fees of any kind due to the trouble. I also asked them to only put the least amount in the tank (it was 20 degree outside) and was assured they would only do 100 gallons (see pic)9. 2/18/25- they show up but deliver 400 gallons instead of 100 and then charge me for it. 10. 2/18/25- see screen shot of all emails in February. 11. 4/3/25 I send an email after receiving a bill for over *******!!!! 12. 5/7/25 received another bill w 2 late fees (see pic) 13. 5/13/25 another bill 14. 5/14/25 I find out they charged me a removal fee after having an entire conversation that there were no fees due to the issues and they said they will not reverse it 15. 5/14/25 I ask for transcripts to prove they assured me of no fees Leadership will not reply to me!Review fromAlan R

We put the account in our names after Mother in law passed away. We supplied them with a Death Certificate and court papers. We have been trying to resolve this since November 2024. There are no offices near me.Review fromDavid O

We have had Amerigas as our propane supplier for over 20 years. Since they were purchased and moved all customer service overseas 3 years ago it is impossible to contact anyone who can answer a question or fix a problem with ********** the spring of 2024, I decided to switch to a local propane supplier due to cost and ability to speak with a customer service rep. **** I notified ********************** that I would be switching to a new supplier they came and refilled my propane tank without my knowledge, causing us to lose the credit we had with Amerigas and meaning we could not switch suppliers until early 2025 due to the amount of propane we now had on hand. This also meant I would need to pay the tank rental fee which came due in early fall of 2024.When we were finally able to make the switch to the new supplier I contacted Amerigas to have them pick up the tank. After picking up the tank they sent me an invoice for tank pick-up ($199.00) and a service fee of $126.00. In their contract it lists a service fee for any service or maintenance performed on the equipment, not for picking up a tank which is already costing us $199.00.I emailed Amerigas twice on their own website asking for someone to contact me regarding the additional charge, but to this day I have not received a response.I would never recommend anyone use Amerigas as a propane supplier. Prior to the sale a few years ago they were a great company with really good employees and customer service. Now their customer service is outsourced to ***** and the reps are horrible.I give them a half star rating because I feel bad for the employees that have been around before the sale took place.
