    Compassion, empathy, and equality is extremely important in the times we are living in. Unfortunately, I received none of the above from the Dr. Brian S***** dental practice. Mainly the front desk staff. Despite sharing that I was in a lot of pain from an unexpected injury, and needed to reschedule an appointment, having contacted them in advance, I was threatened with a fee of over $100. As such, because I felt bullied to keep my appointment, and because inflation seems to have no close end, I came to my appointment. But was sure to explain, that I wasn't feeling well, and was in pain, prior to my arrival. Yet, after having arrived to the appointment, feeling under the weather, I was met with a cold and callous lack of compassion or empathy. As if I was sub-human. I was told by Dr. S***** that my appointment was cancelled. Apparently, I should be in pain and shut up. This experience has shown me, that inequality is alive and well. There was such a coldness to the culture of this office towards me. I felt like that on the first day I came in, but I shrugged it off. I guess I should listen to my instincts. Studies have shown that African Americans are not treated equally by many medical providers. Sadly, this was my experience by this practice. If I could give it a negative star I would. What a shame that in the midst of a global pandemic that a medical practice is more concerned about making profit than showing compassion to a patient in pain. A simple "I'm sorry you're not feeling well, we'll do our best to make sure your procedure won't cause any additional discomfort" would have made a world of difference. But I received none of that. Thank goodness I found out early that I am not a person, but a profit, to Dr. Brian S***** and his administrative staff. Thank you BBB for sharing my review so other people of color will be aware of what they might experience at this dental practice. Mannerisms like this is covert racism in disguise and they should be ashamed.
