HNL Lab Medicine recently acted in an irresponsible and unprofessional manner in keeping a scheduled home visit appointment, and I write this as a "customer beware" warning to all those considering use of their home service.I received a call from HNL Lab Medicine on a Friday, informing me that a phlebotomist would be coming to draw blood from an elderly patient at our home on the following Monday between 8 and noon. The individual concerned fasted during those hours, but no one from HNL Lab Medicine showed up that day. They did not call to inform us they would be late. They did not cancel the home visit.I sent an email to HNL Lab Medicine to complain. I received the following reply, "Good morning, We have forwarded your concern to the supervisor of the appropriate area to address this. Thank you, ************* ******************** Medicine".The following day HNL Lab Medicine sent a phlebotomist to the house without informing us ahead of time about the visit. Because we had no idea they would be coming, the individual concerned did not fast. The glucose result ended up being skewed and unreliable. There was no apology whatsoever for what had happened.I sent a follow-up email to the ************* Department, but it is now five days later and there has been no response from them.I do not know if this is an isolated case or whether it happens frequently, but I urge people to get blood drawn at other labs, e.g., St. ****** or Quest, to avoid the unprofessionalism that HNL Lab Medicine demonstrates in scheduling home visits.******* *******, **** ********, **
