    1-800-Got-Junk's website says that after inspection of the junk to be removed a quote will be given on site. If the homeowner feels the quote is too high the workers will leave with no charge for the quote.I initially spoke with a representative after calling the main number for 1-800-Got-Junk. I was told about their pricing which started at a minimum of $179 for the smallest load and a full load would cost $811.On the day they showed up I showed them the items I wanted to remove. After the walk-thru I was shown a price sheet and the representative pointed to the line saying that a full load would cost $709.The quoted price seemed good to me as it was lower than the price given when making the appointment. I told them to proceed.The job took just under an hour and resulted in a less than full load due to poor stacking of the removed items. I will give credit where it is due - the trucks are not equipped with lift gates which I find rather ridiculous for a company that moves heavy items. It makes it hard for the employees to load the heavier items resulting in poor loading & wasted space. The main items I wanted removed were a *********************** They didn't get them due to "not enough room".When done they told me I owed $1520 which was a large increase from the $709 I had been quoted.. They started beating the **** when I questioned the price and started talking about "loads", "bedloads", lack of room and generally evading my questioning. They got my credit card as quickly as possible and told me I would receive an invoice thru email.I got the email about 10 minutes after they left and found that I had been charged for 2 loads - one "full bedload" at $709 and a "full load" at $811.I called the franchise manager and requested a partial refund as only one load had been taken and should not have been charged for another. After two calls he did refund $520 but refused to refund more than that. Be advised - lots of complaints for bait & switch with this company

    Hello ****,I attempted to explain to you multiple times that bedload and volume were two different types of charges that we incur. Bedload consists of items that are heavier than your average load, and volume consists of items that we see on a more consistent basis. I myself also explained to you the difference between the two, and the ability for both of these types of charges to be loaded into the same truck. I did refund a portion originally as a courtesy due to our truck team not taking your priority items, those of which you admittedly did not point out as wanting to go first while the truck team was onsite. However, both of the truck team members specifically remember explaining the difference between volume and bedload to you. After my attempt to explain the difference between the two on numerous occasions, it was clear that you had your mind made up about the way we should charge. So again, as a courtesy, I refunded another $260 on your two-ton load that we hauled away for you. We pride ourselves on our ability to provide upfront rates to our customers, hence our 4.9 ****** review rating with over **** ratings. I understand that you found a cheaper rate by "hiring a few guys with a truck" to remove the rest of the items, and we completely respect your decision to go that route again. Our return customers understand that a premium service with same day booking availability does come with a premium rate, and we will ensure to continue to service our customers with the same care that we have provided them with for over 30 years now.
