On February 15, 2022, Better Business Bureau contacted Orenco Flags regarding an advertising claim found on its website at https://orencoflags.com/about.
Specifically, Orenco Flags claims: "No hidden fees, marked up shipping fees, or handling charges", "Most items ship free with No Tax on any products", and "Accredited by The Better Business Bureau, Orenco Flags Guarantees complete customer satisfaction with our products and personal service".
According to BBB’s Code of Advertising, advertisements should be truthful, sincere offers to sell. When using the term “warranty” or “guarantee” the advertiser should clearly and conspicuously include a statement that the complete details of the warranty can be seen prior to the sale which could include putting it on the seller’s website. Advertisers should disclose any material limitations on a "satisfaction guarantee" or "money back guarantee" and define, for consumers, the meaning of claims such as "lifetime guarantee".
A formal written request to substantiate these claims was emailed and mailed to Orenco Flags on March 21, 2022. As of April 25, 2022, BBB has not received a response from Orenco Flags.
