My friend is 78 years old and decided to move into Willamette Oaks after touring several independentliving facilities. She was promised that if she moved into a small studio apartment that a first floor one bedroom would be available by the end of September. So she paid the $2500 community fee and $700 pet deposit and moved in on that promise. A couple months later the facility informed us that they misrepresented that offer. There was another resident on the waiting list for that apartment and the refurbishment timing was unknown. The offer was repeated once again for a much larger more expensive one bedroom. I requested a refund of the community fee since the community did not deliver as promised and was told in no uncertain terms that the community fee was not refundable Shortly after ***** determined that my friend did not have sufficient cognitive function to continue to live in the community and evicted her with less than 30 days notice. ******* was forgetting to make a reservation for dinner or show up for her reservations. ******* had also attracted the attention of some of the male residents and ***** claimed that this was disruptive to the community and blamed *******. ********* friends had noted on several occasions that various men would approach ******* or be in ********* room - not the other way around. We were forced to move ******* into an ****** until suitable accommodationscould be found. Moving is stressful for anyone but for ******* it is a devastating experience and her friends dropped everything in their lives to support and enable her in this temporary setting Then I got the final invoice. I can't prove that ******* did not use all the other "excess resident lunch" that are listed on the invoice but I sure do know she did not return to the community to have lunch after she moved out on November 10. This is clear evidence of the overcharge policy of Willamette Oaks. Willamette Oaks is a bait and switch operation.
