  We have had 2 plumbers from another company tell us within the last year we needed to install a cleanout. We contacted Lieber Mechanical in ***** to get a quote for the installation. (Note: both previous plumbers had told us WHERE the cleanout needed to BE installed & a retired friend plumber had discussed what would be involved in the install, etc.) When the Lieber plumber arrived today, he went down through the vent pipe in the roof with his camera. After QUITE some time, he told my husband he couldn't FIND our sewer line, which is where the cleanout would need to be installed. He wandered ALL over the backyard, came in the house with his "beeping" device, but NEVER found our sewer line. His "final" advice was that we needed to empty 5 rooms of our house of EVERYTHING for creating a "hole" beginning between our living ************** room, & that, IF the work could not be done through our crawlspace (in our master closet), he didn't know how it could be done. (Note, in more than 50 years, we've NEVER had a plumbing issue with the laundry or kitchen.) The implication was that we'd be living in 2 bedrooms & a small bathroom (with our 3 cats) with "access" to our kitchen (MAYBE) while the rest of the house was "torn out" (& MAYBE rebuilt?) for this installation. He seemed EXTREMELY unprofessional, not particularly knowledgeable about WHAT he would be doing &, truly, did not even seem to know how to use his "beeping" locator equipment. I have no idea what his name is, but he was sent here by ***** ******, who is the service manager (but not a plumber himself). I WANT NOTHING ELSE TO DO WITH THIS COMPANY, but feel the general public looking for a plumber needs to know about this incident. We are elderly, & my husband is a veteran. We are not out to be vicious, but to be honest.

  Dear **** ***** you for your feedback and I am sorry to hear that your experience did not live up to expectations. Straightforward communication and quality work is something we pride ourselves on as a company and it seems we failed in this regard. We went to your house for a free quote on a cleanout install and to investigate an issue with a toilet not draining properly. Due to the blockage in the pipe inside the house, we were unable to locate the exact position of the sewer line outside at that time, but did determine where it runs underfloor inside the house. Our process is always to give a full scope of finished work and an upfront price before we start. We also fully guarantee all our work and make things right if anything goes wrong during the process, so our customers do not have any surprise charges. Due to the orangeburg septic pipes at your house, we also highlight risks associated with these older types of pipes that are no longer up to building codes. Unfortunately, we failed this time at clearly communicating our next steps to you, but there is no charge to you for our free estimates. I assure you this misunderstanding is an uncommon instance and we will use this to improve our training and communication process to do better in the future.Please feel free to reach out to myself, the owner, ***** ******* at ************* with any other feedback you wish to share.

  I do appreciate the response forwarded today from the company we chose from the BBB website. I would like to just provide an update for the information of the BBB, as well as the company involved. We contacted the company who had issued us the previous estimate the next morning. They had a 4-man crew at our house before noon. They found the "nonexistent" sewer line in less than half an hour. They cleared the toilet clog & installed the cleanout we'd requested. I might add that they did NOT charge extra for the clog clearing, even though it was not part of their estimate. My husband was observing the whole process & had every step explained to him. The entire process took less than 2 hours. By the way, our sewer line is NOT **********, but PVC connected to iron. I will acknowledge we DID have to clear out our master closet so one of the young men could check the situation under the house--a far better experience than having to tear out part of the walls & cutting a hole in our floor.
