" I made the mistake of not being home when the workers came." I met with owner Brian ******** to show him what I wanted built, which is a 4' wide awning covered with steel across the back of the house. He said he had left over steel from last year that he would sell for half price. He said my job would look balanced and nice. I cleared the carport for the guys to work, moving my boat. I received a call from Brian stating there was a problem with the door opening, but figured it out. When I came home that evening, I was shocked and furious. 1) First off, the 2 workers left their trailer in the carport. I was unable to put up my boat. Storms coming of course. Had to drain water out of boat. 2) The 2 workers cut all the wood directly over my pool that was clean with new $400 filters. I am still cleaning sawdust out of it 3 weeks later. 3) They hammered nails into my siding at eye level to look for studs, which had just been painted. 4) The board attached to the house, 2x8, with 3in nails, no bolts. Exterior house siding 1/2"+ 2"foam insulation. I told Brian this at initial visit. That board gaps 3/4' in places, not flush to the house. 5)They cut and used 2 of my 6x6x8 posts to temporarily brace to the unstable structure. 6) The 2x8's used for horizontal ground support of rafters were screwed together, gaps of 3/4" at the topside noted and smaller gaps at the bottom, with screws poking through the backsides. 7) Of the 11 rafters attached to the outside beam, 4 are not attached to the house beam, and 1 barely. The rafters were cut too short. 5 cut unusable rafters on the ground. The original board length was 16'. 8) The back door won't clear the roof, if the steel had been applied. Only a 5'8" person can clear the outside horizontal beam coming out the door. It is too low all the way across the backside of the home. I had 1054 more words I couldn't add. I'm no builder, but I know shoddy building and people that don't respect my property.
