I have been buying matco tools for years. I recently paid off my account, but they continue to charge my credit card despite having a zero dollar balance with the company. I call them every week and they will not stop. They owe me hundreds of dollars due to wrongful charges. I have spoken with several customer service reps and they all claim they will fix the issue and agree this is wrong, and say I will be reimbursed, but the automatic charges continue. Recently I had to get my bank involved, we will see if that helps. I would love to see hear a genuine response to this issue, because I am at a loss.

Mr. **** completed an application for Matco Tools Financial Credit with a local distributor on November 4, 2021. He signed a contract for the financing of a 4 Series, 2 Bay Toolbox on November 18, 2021. According to the sales receipt/PSA contract sign by Mr. ****, the local distributor sold the toolbox to Mr. **** for the agreed price of $3,000.00. After the addition of sales tax ($210.00) and a standard administration fee ($50.00), the principal balance on the account was $3,260.00. The Terms of Sale section of the sales receipt/PSA contract discloses the Time Price Differential or interest payments ($1,792.32) that will be paid during the entire life of the loan pursuant to Rule of 78 calculation method. Time Price Differential was added to the Principal Balance for a Total Time Purchase Balance of $5,052.32. Mr. **** has made payments totaling $2,767.66 as of January 26, 2024. Late fees were added to Mr. ****’s account in the months of November 2022, December 2022, January 2023 and February 2023. After the payments received and late fees added, Mr. ****’s account balance is $2,334.65 as of January 30, 2024. Matco Tools is confused by Mr. ****’s claim that he believes his account is paid in full. Mr. **** spoke with his account representative on January 29, 2024, to reschedule an upcoming payment. At no point in this recorded conversation did Mr. **** dispute the balance or question his automated payments. Should he have concerns, he can contact his account representative at ************ to discuss this matter further.

I will never buy Matco tools again. My tool truck guy was the worst and never had what I wanted. I got a tool box from him that came with broken bumpers and after a year or two they never got replaced and he now quit. My tool truck guy also paid late and hurt my credit all the while he was serving us. I fell behind by a few hundred dollars and they threatened to send me to court. T hey also would not work with me to setup a fair plan to not continue to hurt my credit. they would only do it for more than i could pay in order to set up a plan. SO now I only pay around 200 a month but it isnt enough and they continue to mark my credit every month I dont pay back around 20 dollars more. Words company ever.

**************** applied for Matco Tools credit on or about February 3, 2022. He entered into two contracts: one dated February 3, 2022, and one date February 25, 2022. According to his contract dated February 25, 2022, **************** is to pay $30.97 per week. **************** minimum monthly payment is $134.10. Unfortunately, Mr. ******* account slowly became past due and his payment inconsistent. Records show that **************** did not make full monthly payments in the months of March 2022 ($130.97 was received), July 2022 ($100.00 was received), August 2022 ($110.00 was received), October 2022 ($70.00 was received), December 2022 ($70.00 was received), January 2023 ($120 was received), February 2023 ($60.00 was received), and March 2023 ($120.00 was received). No payment was received in the month of May 2022. Mr. ******* payments for April 2022 totaled $170.82, June 2022 totaled $207.00, for September 2022 totaled $186.00, and for November 2022 totaled $146.10. Mr. ******* payments stopped after his payment of $60.00 on March 30, 2023, and did not resume until July 5, 2023. Matco Tools reports to the ************* monthly. If a customer is past due for 4 or more weekly payments at the time of the reporting, Matco Tools reports this to the *************. Mr. ******* credit was first marked as ******************* January 2023 when his account was past due 5 weeks at the time of the reporting. His account has not become less than 4 weeks past due since then, so unfortunately Matco Tools has reported Mr. ******* account as past due at the end of each month since January 2023. Mr. ******* account became 16 weeks past due on May 12, 2023, and per Matco Tools process the account was moved in our in-house collections department. **************** resumed payments when a payment of $200 was processed on July 5, 2023. **************** made his next payment ($240.00) on August 21, 2023. Unfortunately, his payment scheduled for September 20, 2023, was rejected by the bank. A one-time payment was made on October 2, 2023, for $240.00. **************** set up automated payments of $200 per month, on the 7th of each month, to start on November 7, 2023. That arrangement is still in place. Notes reflect that deferment programs were offered to ****************, however he advised that he was not able to afford the required down payment for the deferment program at that time. Should that change, **************** can contact his account representative at ************ to discuss the programs available to him. **************** started to receive collection phone calls and letters when his account became past due. His statements also reflect the past due status of his account. **************** did not notify Matco Tools at any time that he believed his distributor was not remitting his payments or did he claim that his past due status was because of any actions by his distributor. If **************** has receipts showing that any payment was not applied to his account correctly, ********************** is more than happy to review them. However, after reviewing the payment history of the account, ********************** believes that the credit reporting is accurate. Mr. ******* claim that Matco Tools is not treating him fairly is not accurate. Matco Tools expects **************** to make payments per the signed contract. Unfortunately, his account is past due and Matco Tools, like all creditors, reports the status of the account accurately to the credit reporting agencies. Matco Tools was not able to find record of a warranty claim being opened by ****************. He can contact Matco Tools by calling 866-BUYTOOL *************) to discuss his possible warranty claim.

DONT buy Matco. They don’t keep their agreement payments and they will double charge you during the holidays. No wonder the sales rep out of Columbus Indiana has a new truck.

    Matco Tools Corporation

With the information provided, Matco Tools is unable to locate an account between them and ***************************. However, minimum payment amounts do not arbitrarily change without a new contract being signed. Matco Tools can review this matter further if ****************** can provide receipts showing her concerns, or she can contact Matco Tools Financial Service by calling **************.

Have a tool box I spent 30000 on that has issues corporate is no help been waiting 4 weeks now for an answer from the committee what a joke hope no one has to deal with corporate my distributor is great and doing everything he can

Matco Tools offers a limited product warranty against materials and workmanship defects for any tool that is branded with the Matco label. Each toolbox warranty claim is handled on a case-by-case basis. It is Matco Tools discretion whether to repair or replace a toolbox. It is also their discretion to determine whether or not something is covered by the warranty. Upon review of Mr. ******** warranty claim, it appears that the warranty department replaced the slides of Mr. ******** toolbox hutch in hopes it would fix the issues ****************** was experiencing. Unfortunately, the new slides did not correct the issues. A new hutch has been ordered and will be shipped to Mr. ******** distributor, who will install it. It is Matco Tools understanding that once the hutch is received and installed Mr. ******** warranty claim will be resolved.

I had some things come up that prevented me from working. I called matco to try to get in a plan so I didn't get too far behind. They told me I had to be behind on my payment before we could set anything up. Now my only option is to pay $350+ on top of my monthly payment or lose my box. I tried getting ahead of this so I didn't have to stress or worry about one more thing.

**************** entered into a contract with Matco Tools on June 10, 2020. Unfortunately, the account became past due in March 2023. Note reflect that **************** contacted Matco Tools on May 1, 2023, to discuss his options and to set up reoccurring, automatic payments, which started on May 15, 2023. Notes also reflect that he and his account representative discussed a deferment program he qualified for. This program, the 50/50 Program, would require **************** would make a one-time payment for half of his past due and the remaining past due would be placed to the end of his loan. His account was past due $301.65 on that day, so his required payment would be $150.83. **************** stated that he would possibly call back on May 5 or May 15 to set up the required payment, however he did not. **************** still qualities for the 50/50 program. ****************** account is currently past due $335.40. Therefore, should **************** want to take advantage of the program, he can contact Matco Tools at ************ to make a one-time payment of $167.70 by June 21, 2023, which would bring his account current. Even though this account is currently past due 10 weeks, the repossession has not been initiated.

The point is that the financial situation that I was put into has kept me from doing the $150 I did my due diligence to make sure the account wouldn't become past due. Now trying to get caught up is gonna get harder and harder.

    Matco Tools Corporation

    Date: 06/08/2023

Unfortunately, ****************** account became past due because he failed to make payments according to his contract terms. When **************** was able to resume payments, Matco Tools assisted him in setting up automatic payments and advised him of the deferment program available to him. **************** advised that he is unable to take advantage of the program at this time. Matco Tools is sympathetic to ****************** financial situation but does not see any fault in the handling of ****************** account. **************** has set up automatic payments of $77.00 to be paid on the 1st of the 15th of each month. This arrangement will keep ****************** account from becoming any further behind.

If you make a mistake own it, if you want your distributors to feel like family then when one messes up act like family take responsibility for your "child's" mistake. I call and get pointing fingers and the run around. I pay YOU what part of that is hard to understand don't hire every worthless individual as a distributors if you don't want to stand behind them when they s**** up. Customer service should be customer service especially when you buy thousands of dollars worth of tools from a "reputable" company. P.S. I bet I could get better service from *******

    Matco Tools Corporation

    Date: 05/23/2023

According to Matco Tools records, **************** applied for Matco Tools credit on June 13, 2017. Matco Tools did not receive payments in November 2022, January 2023, and March 2023. Matco Tools received payments in December 2022, February 2023, and April 2023 to cover multiple months of payments, which brought **************** current. However, since payments were missing or made late, Matco Tools reported ****************** account ******************* November 2022, January 2023, and March 2023. **************** contacted Matco Tools on April 4, 2023, regarding these past due reportings. As a onetime courtesy, Matco Tools removed the late **** for March 2023. **************** contacted Matco Tools on May 22, 2023 and requested that additional late ****s be removed. It was explained to him that March 2023 was removed as a onetime courtesy but the other reportings would not be changed. **************** did not provide receipts showing that his local distributor misapplied or was late in applying payments. If **************** has receipts showing that payments were not applied correctly, Matco Tools would be happy to re-review this matter.

Why do I get more information from a bbb post than your own customer support team. I could have been told this back in March. This does not seem like it's an isolated incident, multiple people on the bbb have been seeming to be have similar billing issues and miscommunication. Why has this not been addressed when multiple people are having distributor billing issues. I will be looking through my receipts NOW that I have the proper information. Communication really needs to be addressed in this company badly

I bought tools and a diagnostic scanner. I called to have them updated and warranty on some hand tools and was told there's noone in my area and they don't update the scanner so why did you sell it to me if 4 years later it's garbage.

    Matco Tools Corporation

    Date: 02/28/2023

Matco Tools has had many different versions of diagnostic scanners over the years. As with all computers, scanners must be updated frequently to keep up with advancements in technology. It is unrealistic to assume that a company will always support technology as advancements are made. It is possible that the operating system technology is no longer being supported by 3rd party vendors, which would be out of the control of Matco Tools. ************** did not specify which diagnostic scanner he purchased, so with the information provided it cannot be verified that the scanner is no longer supported. ************** can contact Matco Tools *************************** by calling *********** *************) to start the warranty process while he is in between distributors.

Matco Tools appreciates *********************** while we reviewed this matter. Upon review, there is no record of a conversation advising ************** that his hand tools could not be warrantied. There are notes reflecting that ************** contacted Matco Tools regarding his scanner, but not warranty of hand tools. If ************** has information as to who he spoke with or has documentation showing he was told his tools couldnt be warrantied, Matco Tools would like to review this to ensure that the ************* Team is handling communications with customer appropriately. ************** should contact Matco Tools *************************** by calling *********** *************) to start the warranty process while he is in between distributors.

Matco Tools strives to accommodate all our customers by having a distributor service every shop. Unfortunately, this is not always possible as distributors are franchisees, independent contractors and not employees of Matco Tools. This means that, unfortunately, when Mr. ****** distributor closed his franchise, Matco Tools couldnt hire someone to take over the route. The route cannot be filled until someone purchases a franchise in that area. Because of this, customers can contact Matco Tools *************************** by calling *********** *************) to start the warranty process while they are in between distributors. If ************** refuses to do so, unfortunately Matco Tools cannot assist him with his warranty needs.

This is one of the worst companies I have ever dealt with. I ordered a ratchet drive for a Christmas present on 16 December. The part was shown in stock. I was notified after I ordered the tool that it was backordered but was expected to be in stock own 23 December 2022. I didn't receive an update on my order and sent Matco Tools an email on 27 December and was subsequently notified the new estimated ship date was 27 January 2023. On 27 January 2023, I still had not received an update only order and sent Matco Tools a followup email asking about my order. I was told the order was now estimated to ship on 28 ************************* is terrible and my order was continually delayed.

Buyers remorse forsure. I was dooped into a tool box purchase by a slick snake tongued sales guy. That made everything sound workable while i was apprenticing in my company not making nearly enough. Stiffed me with 18% interest when I have perfect credit I now own a 6300$ tool box that's not worth half. When I called matco head office to complain and get it fixed was laughed at by the teller lady which was just as disrespectful. I had to use my line of credit to pay it off to make any sense of purchase the tools I bought are junk. Head lamp with 2 batteries said to have 8 hr life don't last more then 5hrs and there 3 yrs old was given 7 yr warranty with truck guy but he moved in and new guy wouldn't cover the warranty. If your getting into the trades that require tools do not purchase off matco. If in ****** ****** in tire has better quality stuff. MATCO has lost my business and I will never recommend them to any of my apprentices. Very disappointed and feel I was royally taken advantage of as a consumer.

*** ***** completed an application for Matco Tools Financial Credit with a local distributor on February 1, 2019. He signed a contract for the financing of a 4 Series, 2 Bay Toolbox on the same day. Although Matco Tools provides financing, customers have the option of paying with other forms of payment, and financing through other sources such as banks and other financial institutions. *** ***** made the decision to finance his purchase through Matco Tools. Matco Tools distributors do not force or coerce customers into financing with Matco Tools. The financing agreement *** ***** signed is a commercial contract, not a consumer contract. Commercial lending laws do not require the interest rate to be disclosed on the agreement, however the Time Price Differential, which shows the total dollar amount of interest, is present on the contract. The interest rate is based on the applicant’s credit history and ranges from 6.99% to 23.99%. According to the attached sales receipt/PSA contract, the local distributor sold the toolbox to *** ***** for the agreed price of $6,541.65. After a trade in credit for a Master Craft Toolbox ($2,641.65), the addition of sales tax ($195.00) and a standard administration fee ($70.00), the principal balance on the account was $4,165.00. The Terms of Sale section of the sales receipt/PSA contract discloses the Time Price Differential or interest payments ($2,267.40) that will be paid during the entire life of the loan pursuant to Rule of 78 calculation method. As you will note, the Time Price Differential is added to the Principal Balance for a Total Time Purchase Balance of $6,432.40. This maybe the legal aspect of how it all went down sure but the correct I fo about ****% to 23% is incorrect actually because I questioned an online associate about this when my credit is very good seeing I bought a house right after buying toolbox I was told they give no less then 11% Interest on financed products when I called to complain about the fact that I was given 18 % rate which I was " NOT TOLD ABOUT UPON SIGNING " and paperwork didn't come till first pay period in which I had also been paying above agreed payment for quite awhile finding out later I just paid mostly interest off. Second of all the associates i called to talk with attitude and lack of customer care or concern including the sales rep was were I got fooled and suckered was disgusting as a customer dropping alot of money to be treated as such shows poor customer service. I will not call about warranty that's the job of the dealer that cones to shop to help me with my job requires me to have tools working and ready not wait for repairs or warranty claims to go through then mail me stuff. I can get warranty from canadain tire just going in. Despite this back and forth businesses always win in the end they got my money and showed me there's no customer care or concern. ******************** has lost my business and I will not promote this business or product further I'm stuck with it extremely disappointed and recommend if any ine chooses this product read every line in any contract before signing casue what they say and ******** do is not fact.

Just one last thing cause I've had my time and money wasted long enough with this business. Don't listen to all they say or promise I had paid a substantial amount down in my first yr well what I thought was substantial to pay off the 4165$ but know this that's where they get ya you pay more interest then principal as for the tools them selves I've had many issues with the products I've bought. Canadian tire has better tools and easy return and warranty polices it's a huge issue to get what you need repaired or serviced it's a long wait for warranties and repairs. And again it's my word over a corporation in the end they took me for all they could and failed at customer service.
