Trying to get an estimate, for a future new deck job. *** called, and we agreed to date and time for him to come to our residence to look at the job and give an estimate.. HE was a NO show, no return of phone call or text. One and done on this person. Now I see the rating on this company.

On June 9th 2023 I contacted Pine River Deck and Fence LLC looking to hire to replace my old deck with a new larger deck.Company owner, Dan Stymiest came to my house and surveied the situation and gave me a price of $7500 to tear down dispose of my old deck and build a new twelve by sixteen deck.He said I needed to give a down payment of $3500 for materials. I wrote him a personal check for $3500.He said that he was presently doing other jobs and that he could get to me in August.About a month later he contacted me and said he had one more job scheduled and that I would be next to have a deck built. On July 28th a load of lumber and a pallet of Quickcrete concrete mix was unloaded and left in front of my house. He contacted me and said the materials were dropped of prematurely and that did not make the decision to drop off the lumber and concrete. I contacted him a few weeks ago and he said that because he was short of help my deck construction would be delayed.I said if he couldnt do the job to return my money so I could hire someone else to do the job. He told me "No refunds" I have a contract from Dan Stymiest to build a deck and if he is not going to honor the contract and not refund my money. that has to be fraud ,breach of contract or possibly theft. I would like to get my money back so I can hire someone to replace my present deck It is old and dangerous to walk on as the boards are starting to rot. I have already fallen thru the boards once . None of the addresses listed for the company are Pine River buildings. The phone number on the contract is a private residence not associated with Pine River. It is beginning to look more and more like a scam company out to steal my money.

May 17th was the start time and is still being worked on till this Day on June 13th, 2023. A 12X18 deck that I have been patient and understanding with. The put of the frame up pretty quickly but would come and work 2 to 4 hours a day after that. I have boards that are not connected and 1/2" to 3/4" gaps in the floor. The skirting has gaps big enough to put a pencil in it. It was nailed down instead of using deck screws like I asked. Also tried putting 2X4's for my Top Posts. Gaps in the main support that should be tightly up against my 4X6's. He would show up for an hour then let these kids build the deck. Nothing but mistakes throughout the whole process. I have given $7000 so far for the work that has been done but I have to rip the skirting and the floor back up. Along with the Ballasters that were not the right ones we wanted but was willing to let it go so we could have a deck up. Now he's wanting me to give him $2000 more dollars out of the $7000 I've already given. $10,300 was the total of what was agreed upon but as a homeowner and carpenter I had to make a decision to not let them do any more work as I now have to rip the deck back down to the frame and re-do it the right way. $10,300 is what was agreed upon the contract. The railing is put up wrong as of now on my steps. the 4X4 posts were put up and one was 1inch lower than the rest which i noticed. The 2 kids there were not knowledgeable, and I had to make a template for them to use for the metal Ballasters because they were crooked and uneven. They built a 3-wall open frame for around my filter and pumps and that is even built wrong and unlevel.
There is still more but I had kept pictures of everything that was done for evidence. I'm not happy at all with the unfinished deck and decided to write this to help others find a better person for your building needs. I will say Dan has been respectful and willing to try and fix the mistakes made and it leads to even more mistakes. Great person but not happy.
