Ohio Mulch is the master of the bait and switch. I ordered 5 cubic yards of top soil based on the picture and description of top soil on their website. When they delivered it to my house I noticed immediately that it looked nearly identical to the mulch that I had also ordered from them. It looked, felt, smelled and spread exactly like mulch. I have placed 5 calls to their office to get them to rectify the situation and the "manager" NEVER returned my call. The people who answer the phone are trained to say - "our top soil looks like mulch due to its premium makeup". I am 61 years old and have worked with mulch and top soil for over 50 years. Their top soil product is basically mulch and their customer service is completely missing. I will never do business with Ohio Mulch again and I strongly recommend that others avoid them if you are looking for high quality top soil.Ohio Mulch

Mr. Liston,I understand you are familiar that our geographic region is concentrated with a clay based soil and needs to be amended for increased growth potential . We amend our soil with organic wood fiber and light sand as well as pulverized soil.Review fromKurt F

Delivered my mulch ... A WEEK AFTER I CANCELLED THE ORDER, and 10 days after the expected delivery date AND Damaged our driveway on a delivery that should have happened. Ordered on a Saturday ,for Tuesday Delivery (for a project on the following weekend ... per there specific request on their website) Delivery did NOT Show up and they never communicated at all. I called 5 times without any realistic expectations. We went to the store to pick up order, after being frustrated, and they said our mulch wasn't in stock and that their delivery driver doesn't show up sometimes. We cancelled the order in the store and followed that up with an email to cancel as well, again without a response. A week later after cancelling, our cancelled order showed up in our driveway and they leaked transmission fluid all over the driveway and we had a graduation party the next day. After 2 phone calls to the store and a Unreturned voicemail from a sales director, I drove to the store to demand they pick up the order immediately (which they finally did) and come evaluate the damage to our driveway. Again, no response to the damages, so I sent a firm email that got to corporate and the next day the sales director called me to apologize and "take care" of the financial driveway burden. Without any discussion ... I was sent a pathetic $50 gift card to be redeemed at Ohio Mulch and i still have stains in our driveway that I will have to try to clean and powerwash myself now. (we Just had it sealed 3 weeks ago too). That gift card will expire and NEVER get used. OHIO MULCH ... Do the RIGHT thing and not the CHEAP thing!!!! In my personal experience, there system is broken and the didn't value me as a customer.Ohio Mulch

DO NOT waste your time with this company. I ordered for delivery to Lebanon Oh and they moved our scheduled delivery multiple times. I only knew this because they never show up so I had to call and see what was up. Moved me from Saturday delivery, to monday(Memorial Day, I confirmed they were delivering this day the response was YEP.) well NOPE. So I called again and they said we will have it out right now, oh no we don’t have any. maybe tomorrow or Thursday. Needless to say after a week of waiting I’m done and asked to be refunded. but base on previous reviews I may have to file a dispute if they dont refund. Terrible company. Their corporate number doesn’t care at all either. Update adding that we received a call back about ten mins later saying they found top soil and can bring it today. Pass. Especially after reading other people’s reviews about the quality or their “top soil” being pulverized mulch.Ohio Mulch

Ms. Hayden, we truly do care not only about your business but more importantly the frustration that your delayed delivery has created. The ordering process has let us down do to a computer glitch that created an enormous impact on the volume of deliveries throughout the busiest 2 weeks of our season . Our delivery staff put in long hours each day of the week to assure we did our very best to fulfill our obligation and we still fell short. The soil is a growers blend soil this is do to we living in a clay based soil region our soil is nutrient deficient and requires soil amendment in an effort to create a soil conducive to stimulate growth. The ingredient was devised by a lab that looks at the condition of the existing soil and then introduces amendment qualities that provides a consistent finish product that works best in our application. The ingredient is pulverized soil with aged organic wood fiber and light sand. this ingredient not only provides nutrient impact but assure quality root growth from a loose soil that will allow roots to penetrate . I am convinced that they have never successfully delivered a single item in their existence. They should be investigated as a front for nefarious activities. Scheduled a delivery on a Thursday for Saturday delivery. Left a $50 tip on the order thinking this would help make the process smooth, NOPE! No delivery on the day scheduled, waited a few days and called them. Left multiple messages for a return call, no return call. Finally spoke to someone 3 days later, said they didn’t even have the mulch and assured me it would be delivered on Thursday. NOPE! Waited till Friday, Saturday, Sunday…. NOPE! Finally got ahold of someone and cancelled the order, she said she that we will get an email and refund receipt that day. NOPE! There is no chance in hell I’m getting a refund. This company is absolutely horrible, just close it up…Ohio Mulch

Mr. Auffart, We have been working with and throughout the communities in Ohio for over 39 years our efforts throughout the season require long hours and diligent implementation to support our delivery process. We were moved back on our heals this season from a glitch in our delivery system which overbooked our capacity for a short period. Our staff worked 7 days a week in an effort to over come the influx of orders that populated our delivery portal. We are truly sorry for your frustration and will assure that the processed refund is followed through on and support documentation is sent to you. I ordered much from Ohio Mulch Plain City,Ohio on 4/21/23. I actually drove to the store to see the products before I purchased it. I bought and paid for mulch and top soil, and scheduled the delivery for 5/10/23. That day came and went, with a no show and not even a phone call to reschedule. I called and was told it was scheduled for 5/11/23. I have the paperwork to differ, but I tried to be respectful while being called a liar. I again waited the entire day from 8-7, without a phone call or mulch!! Again I called and was assured that the mulch was on the truck to be delivered today 5/12/23. As you can probably guess, no mulch and no phone call!! I called corporate today to complain, and called the store also. The manager of the store I bought it from, now assures me it will be here tomorrow. I won’t hold my breath, but I want people to be aware of the lack of professionalism and honesty from this company. I am a frontline medical professional, and if I treated patients like they treat their customers, I would be fired, and justifiably so!!Ohio Mulch

I originally was not having what I would say is a good experience, just because I had concerns which at the time seemed valid, but no one returned my call all day long. I still can't say I'm in favor of a policy whereby the only option for a customer is to leave a message, then you get crickets until you start calling and emailing and generally being a squeaky wheel. That being said, and certainly they may have valid reasons for how they handle incoming communications, two people from the company called and one texted with me extensively about my concerns. Then the district manager came out in person! As it all turns out, I just had people hired who had never seen this type of top soil before and took it for mulch. My husband who works in construction also believed it was mulch, but Ron (the manager) said the soil they would use in foundations and what not is not good for growing. This top soil works well with our clay soil and so I learned something very new. In addition, he explained how the trucks operate and that there was no possible way the driver could have only come one time. My ring cameras don't face that way and so upon further investigation, we figured out the camera did not capture his second arrival, but the other camera did capture him driving back down the road. This was my mistake entirely and yet the reps were so understanding and accommodating and gracious about this whole thing. I really appreciate that they took the time with me and also weren't completely irritated with our errors. We went from thinking we were not dealing with a great company to realizing we were dealing with a very good company and we will be returning for more purchases, today actually. We have a large property and it's good to know we've found a solid company who will deal with us despite our ignorant concerns - plus we have learned a lot! Thank you Ohio Mulch!Ohio Mulch

I'd rather give this company 0 stars! I worked for this company, I got loaded by the Manager of the building- the scales were broken (AS ALWAYS) tell me why I got pulled over, was overweight by well over 13,000 pounds more than a class D license holder should have. (I had a screenshot where it said "NO CDL NEEDED in the headline of the job) I then called my boss, he told me to partially unload my truck where I was and make the deliveries as if I didn't get 2 huge tickets. I had to weight for someone from another site come and get me and we took it back. (Overweight & registration violation because of the weight) They then tried to get me to do the SAME thing the next day. I declined and they fired me on the spot because I refused to get in trouble! (NOT TO MENTION THEY LIED ABOUT THE PAY PER HOUR) The next day their lawyer contacted me, they asked me to plead guilty, I said "No" because that WOULD have affected my insurance and I would have had to pay a lot more after I accepted the penalties for something they used against me so I failed and they wouldn't be at fault. ALSO- I have TEXT MESSAGES stating they would pay for my fines, guess what, I am still paying for them. I am astonished that they still have workers and a business.Ohio Mulch

So I ordered mulch and gravel from Ohio Mulch they had a special free delivery on any order over $200. Very good deal I have used them before had no problems but being a day late with the delivery but that is kind of normal these days no big deal. I got delivery on Tuesday 08/30 the bag mulch was easy to put out no problem then I go to the bagged gravel pallet and find out they sent me a "super sack" of gravel instead of bags. Well I sent them a email telling them my problem they wrote back that they had called me and I had approved the substitution . It was kind of strange since I didn't get a call from them so I sent them another email explaining the situation. I didn't get a response from them till Friday saying that they were getting the district manager involved. I kind of got sick of waiting around for them so I had called my credit card company early Friday morning and filled a dispute. At this point I was getting sick of it I decided hey loose gravel is a pain but I can work with it. So I sent them a email telling them to either pick it up or give me the price difference between bag and bulk . Well they sent me a email back saying that there was no difference between bag and bulk in price. I sent them a email back saying that they must think I'm stupid, I'm letting the credit card company handle it ****** learned just wanted to share.Ohio Mulch

Mr. Kieffer, I understand your initial concern of the bag sizing and at time of delivery the product was even placed closer to the desired install spot to assure a level of ease with the install process. We had came out to the residence to review your concern with you called when on site and there was no one home we also called from the site and left a message, the following day the charge was disputed leaving us no alternatives but to wait for the decision of your credit card company with there decision.Review fromMatt W

My experience left me feeling quite terrible.I dont think its the fault of the customer service rep I spoke to, nor even any of the individual workers involved in the process. They all seemed like good hard working people. But I do think my experience reflects poorly on the company and the leadership as a whole. Perhaps this is just reinforcing the old phrase Buyer Beware. I dont mind that the order was delivered 3 days late and might not have even been delivered at all if I didnt call about it. Logistics are tough these days, and to be fair they had a disclaimer that they might not get to it on the scheduled delivery date. Wish they called *me* first, but I can live with it.And I would probably have simply blamed myself if it was just that the product I received did not line up with how it was portrayed online. I saw a picture online and tried to visit a local store that did have plenty of stone but they did not happen to have the specific variety we were looking for available, so I decided to trust the image online - my mistake.But the fact that calling and asking for a simple confirmation and maybe an apology about it took 3 whole business days and multiple follow *** to receive anything more than a single response of its been forwarded to the Sales Director, and the conclusion of that period of a absolute silence after 3 days was just Yep, looks like we have an inaccurate picture online, well update it before proceeding to immediately close the issue as done is honestly offensive to me as a customer.Even just a sincere email with words of apology for the experience would have made me feel a lot better. Frustrated, but better. I hope this was just a one-off fluke, but judging by other ratings Ive seen it seems this is common, and frankly it doesnt matter to me any longer. Please fix the way you communicate with your customers. This was my first and only time as your customer, and I will be directing my contacts away from you.Ohio Mulch

Ordered mulch a week ago to have delivered on Monday. Nothing, called every 4 hours for an estimated time frame, response was well were going to try to get to you by closing no More response. Waited all day to have nothing plus a $129 delivery charge!!Not a happy customer!Ohio Mulch

I pulled the original order and found were there was a discount code that was used to offset a god portion on the delivery fee. I also know do to the volume of deliveries at time of your order even our 60 truck fleet struggles with an overload of delivery days and times. , this is why we clearly states on line it is not guaranteed a specific date or time do to the unknown variables.
