Extortion? Not sure…. What do you think? Months prior to our move we contracted with Arnoff Moving in Malta, NY Our move was from Malta, NY to Myrtle Beach, SC. The rep. from Arnoff came to my home, assessed everything, quoted $6,067.62 and we signed the contract. Someone would need to be in SC in three days to meet the truck. When the driver arrived in NY on 4/18 we were informed that the truck couldn’t fit down the street so we would have to pay for a shuttle which was $800.00. We were actually charged $1,107.76 extra! (many 18 wheelers have fit previously.) They created a new contract the day of the move and said we needed to sign it or they weren’t going to load our things. Our options now: • Don’t sign and our furniture and belongings stay in New York? • Don’t sign and find another truck that day to bring our belongings from NY to SC? • Sign the contract so there aren’t issues with our belongings and deal with it on the other end? Flew into Carolina’s on 4/21 - Truck dropping off 4/26! 4/25, I received a frantic call from the driver. He unloaded the wrong shipment and would be at my home soon. Quite surprised when he showed up with the huge cab! Our area is in developing stages construction vehicles everywhere and that same truck fit no problem when it was to the driver’s benefit… Upon walking through with the driver. There were two metal shelves which needed assembly. The men were in the garage working and left without a word. The shelves were put together – poles upside down, a shelf missing from each one. They were not usable. I called Arnoff Moving and they wouldn’t discuss it with me! I was instructed to call ***** ******** Van Lines where messages aren’t returned. When I did get a woman, she stated that we signed the new copy so basically, it’s too bad they will not reimburse anything and then started reciting laws and fines of $100,000 to try and scare me… Reliable company? Not so much.

Arnoff has reviewed the *****’s concerns and compared it to the actual move paperwork as well as what was billed and paid by the *****’s. The additional charges assessed were for a small shuttle truck to move the *****’s belongings from their home to the large tractor trailer which was used to transport their goods to their final destination in South Carolina. The professional Class-A driver did drive near the *****’s to attempt to access their driveway, however, due to his safety concerns he determined that the access was too tight and he needed a shuttle. Arnoff and our drivers always do our best to avoid using shuttle trucks as it makes a move more difficult in a number of ways. However in some cases it is the safest and only way to load a shipment as there are homes which are inaccessible by 53’ trailers which are pulled by large sleeper tractors (the large “cab” noted in the *****’s report) which can exceed 80’ in overall length and can be cumbersome to safely maneuver in tight and / or long driveways. We were able to confirm that the additional charges assessed for the *****’s move were $898.06. No other charges were assessed, and further, while we did not force the *****’s to agree to paying for the shuttle truck, the move simply could not have been completed without one. Lastly, the *****’s original estimate clearly outlined the delivery spread which included the actual date of delivery and indicated their agreement to receive the shipment on any given date within that spread of dates.
