Buyer beware! When I left teaching in Native villages of ******, I left my classroom library behind, worth around $2,000 - all bought from Scholastic over the years. Once in WA, I placed an order in the amount of $774.76 to restart my classroom library.I had to return all the duplicate books they sent me on accident. Their mistake, but I sent them the books. I was honest. Then, I decided to leave the classroom shortly after all the books had arrived. I had not even touched them, still wrapped and in a box. I mailed them all the books I had ordered on September 20 through ********** mail. I had my name, account number, and order number on and in the box. Remember, I had already sent the duplicates. Its now November 21, two months later, and no refund. They are saying they got the books I didnt pay for, but not the ones I dideven though three people had told me the books arrived. I was dumb and did not keep the tracking number. Stupidest mistake of my life because now Schooastic is refusing to refund me unless I can give the tracking number. Now they have ALL their books, my $774.76, and I have nothing except the stress of losing almost $800 just because I dont have one number. They have the books. I did what I needed to do, and they are choosing to refuse to consider they have the books and are s******* me financially. If I choose to go back into the classroom next year, since I do love teaching, rest assured I will not be handing out flyers to my kids and not be using Scholastic for my classroom library.

I placed an order through Scholastic ********* in December 2021 for $74.71. At this time, Scholastic charged my credit card for the order. Scholastic, however, never sent me my book order even though my credit card was charged for the order. I hear nothing from Scholastic. Then, in July 2023, Scholastic sends me an email with an invoice showing a credit balance for the $74.71. I think, great, I'll spend my credit balance on a future order. So on October 26, 2023, I login to my Scholastic ********* account to place an order, but to my surprise, I do not have a credit balance on my account. I contact ********************** ********* to inquire about my credit balance and find out that my credit balance was 'written off'. So basically, Scholastic took it upon themselves to just take my money. I never received a second invoice showing a credit balance. I didn't recieve a letter letting me know my balance would be unavailble after a certain length of time. Nothing. Most companies would have just refunded my money since the order was not fulfilled (and/or my credit card would not have been charged prior to sending the product). Scholastic did not continue to provide invoices showing the credit balance, but instead choose to write off my balance essentially just stealing my money. After contacting Scholastic again, they are supposedly sending me a refund check for the $74.71, but this is only after my chasing them down to obtain it. I will not purchase from Scholastic again, and I advise you of their poor business practices and be wary if purchasing from them!!!!

They double charged my credit card. When asked to correct the problem they claimed it was not a glitch on their end since it was a delay of 3 minutes and 28 seconds between the charges. They refuse to corrected the problem till my order came in. I did receive our original purchased book order. I did not get any extra books. So the double charge was not a repeat order as they originally claimed. They then tried to claim that since the issue occurred over 4 weeks ago (that is how long we had to wait for book order to come in, before they would discuss the double charge issue again) that they can only offer this second charge as a gift card. I just want the second charge of money back. At this point I have to ask is this a scam company that works under the guise of the importance of literacy? I cant believe we allow this in public schools.

Shady billing practices. I authorized ****** payment through my Scholastic Book Club account for two book orders. They only charged 3 out of 4 books to my ****** account. Then they started sending me invoices telling me I owe. I logged into my Scholastic account but it shows I paid with ******. I reviewed my ****** account and see they didn't charge me for the last book. I call to get it straightened out and they say I have to give my credit card number over the phone. I cannot pay through my account online or through ******. I want a secure payment method but they are not offering me one. After reading everything here I DEFINTELY do NOT want to give them my credit card number. They need to fix their billing practices. It seems they just want to collect personal banking information.
