On Saturday, 10/22 I called ********************** in Upper Manhattan at 10:23AM to help me access my apartment as I was locked out of. They were attentive and let me know a locksmith would be on the way within 20 minutes - the locksmith did not arrive until after 11:30. When he arrived, he let me know the only way to access my apartment would be to drill into the lock. I gave him the green light to do so given there were not many other options to access the unit.Upon observing the lock, the locksmith - **** - determined the entire mechanism was broken and needed to be replaced. I asked him for a quote on the job and he gave me a quote of $60 to replace the lock cylinder and $400 for the mechanism. I agreed and **** got to work. After about 30 minutes, **** finished the job and presented me with an invoice of $1794.96 - with the following services listed:- Service Call - $89 - Lockout - $380 - Cylinder Replacement: $480 - Mechanism Replacement: $600 - Installation - $75 - Tax - $144 Total: $1794.96 I was shocked to see the bill be 4X the quote that was originally intended. It is important to call out that the week prior I had ********************** come to my apartment to install a deadbolt which was $700 dollars. When I called **************** after **** left to inform them of the price and if they could give me some break considering the money I recently spent last week - they informed me they did not know who **** was and that they never sent him on the job. I've now tried calling **************** 4+ times between 10/22 and 10/24 and no one will return my call - I was told the manager is named **** who I have been trying to get in touch with. I strongly believe I was scammed with the locksmith and this job and would like to seek damages to rectify the issue with ****************.
