      Dast Construction was hired to redo a deck and shed and install a metal roof on my cottage. I paid for materials up front and for labor weekly. They demolished the old deck and shed, put the framing in for the deck, completed the shed and installed part of the roofing. The owner gave me a completion date of May 16, 2023. He continually promised to finish. On July 18 I found out he never ordered the materials to finish the job and he asked me to check prices. I told him to refund my money for the railings for the deck and finish the roof. He has done neither. The contract also stated they would dispose of all the old leftover materials. They loaded the debris on their trailer and left it in my backyard on May 15. On June 28, I finally hired someone to dispose of the old materials and then the owner came and got the trailer. During this time there were many phone calls and texts trying to get my job completed. I hired another contractor to finish the job on August 21. They spent one day reinforcing the framing under the deck which was done poorly. The edges of the decking were not cut off evenly and the decking wasn’t installed correctly. Screws had to be added to the metal roofing as there weren’t enough and the ridge cap was not finished to keep snow out. I do not recommend DAST Construction.
