On July 21, 2022, BBB requested that Details-Carpet Solutions substantiate, modify, or discontinue advertising the following Environmental Benefit Claims: “eco-friendly carpet and tile cleaning solutions,” “non-toxic & biodegradable,” and “safe and eco-friendly cleaning solutions,” which are found on their websites at http://www.detailscarpet.com/ and http://www.detailscarpet.com/carpet-cleaner.html.
The BBB Code of Advertising states that “advertisers should avoid broad, unqualified environmental claims such as ‘green,’ or ‘eco-friendly.’ Other claims such as ‘degradable,’ ‘recycled,’ and ‘non-toxic,’ should only be used when substantiated and properly qualified. Environmental Certifications and seals of approval may be used if properly issued. Additional disclosures are needed if not issued by an independent third-party.”
As of September 19, 2022, the business hasn’t fulfilled our requests to substantiate the claims mentioned above.
