American Water Treatment installed a system in my home 5 years ago. I asked them to come change water filters for me under sink. They Charged over 300 dollars to change filter and put in faucet connected to filter. The faucet should have been put in when they first came to install the system and was not installed in the first place is what the teck told us. The filter did not connect to anything but Ice Maker on refrigerator prior to that.During installing a faucet on one side under the sink and changing filters on the other side he created a small leak under the sink that was not there prior. The home is only 5 years old and the plumbing is solid. It was a slow drip we did not realize was happening under the kitchen sink in the cabinet until it had caused water damage. They said the leak could not have been their fault and they would not fix the damage. I said the needed to repair it or expect me to make claim in small claims. they said the will be see me in court.

We sent a tech out to customer's home on 1/5/24 to change filters.  We also installed an ** faucet at the same time (at  no charge).  On 2/1/24, almost a month later,  we received a call from customer stating that he had a leak and it had caused damage to the cabinet. I scheduled for a tech to come out the same day to check and told him how to turn the water off to the ** until we got there.  Later that day, he called and rescheduled the appointment for 2/5/24, because no one was going to be home.  The tech  went out on 2/5/24 to assess the situation and found that the ** was not leaking at all. The leak was caused by a worn out o-ring on sprayer hose from the kitchen faucet. The tech showed the o-ring to the customer and explained the problem.  The reason there was no ** faucet there before was because the customer did not want us to put one in when it was installed in 2018.  ******** also had never had the ** serviced since it was installed, even though annual filter change reminders were sent out.  We tried to explain to the customer that the worn out o-ring could not be caused by something that the technician did.  The customer is the one that insisted we caused it and must fix or pay for damage.  Twice during the phone call on 2/1/24, the customer said he was going to file a claim with Small Claims court, this was his idea, not ours.  This leak was in no way caused by the work our tech did, this is why we said it was not our responsibility to repair.
