One May 20th, 2024 I went to the UPS Store located in Boulder City to have some documents notarized. I told the "in store notary" that I would like to have my signature notarized on 4 documents. I saw the "Notary Book" and it showed the last transaction in the book cost was $15.00 so that was what I was expecting to be charged. After she entered my information she noted the $15.00 and added "X4. I almost fell over. I told her if I would have been told what the cost was going to be I could have done what I needed to be notarized differently. She just looked at me like she did not care. I left the store and called other locations to inquire about their notary fees. With that information I called back the UPS store and talked to the Notary and she said she charged the fee that the State of Nevada said they must charge and that their competitors (who she named) were breaking the Law. She then mentioned that she had told me when I was in the store what it would cost and I must not have heard her. (It is odd she said that "after the fact", when I called back, and not when I was actually in the store.) I then researched the Law and found the Law does not say they "Must" charge $15.00 for an acknowledgement, but, they may charge $15.00 for "AN" acknowledgement. The Law also states their fees must be posted and their fees were not posted. Not only was I not told what the cost would be beforehand, when I called back to express my feelings about how they grossly over charged me the Notary did not accurately state what the Law said she also accused a competitor of breaking the Nevada Law. I called again later and asked to speak to the store manager and was told she was on vacation and I spoke with the assistant store manager. I told her what had happened to me, what the Notary said about a competitor and that she did not accurately represent Nevada Law and that their fees were not posted "Per Nevada Law". The assistant manager said she could not do anything about it.
