My co-pay is $20 and Optique Boutique blatantly overcharged me on my 6/6/2024 visit by saying I owed $66.78 as my portion of the co-pay. I told them my co-pay should be $20 and the two women at the desk just shrugged and said $66.78 is what I owe as my portion of the co-pay. So I paid the $66.78 and figured to wait and see my explanation of benefits (***) from Horizon. Well, sure enough, I received the *** from Horizon which confirmed my co-pay should have been $20, Horizon paid $46.78. After learning this, I called their office on 7/9 and spoke with ***. I advised *** that I was overcharged, and that my insurance company paid them $46.78, and I paid them $66.78. The math adds up perfectly, my portion due was $20 (this is confirmed on my *** as well). *** told me the office manager is the only one who can issue a credit/refund and was not available. She confirmed my phone number and said the office manager would call me back once theyre available. It is now 7/15 and I am yet to receive a call back. While I was waiting to be seen at my 6/6 appointment, another patient/customer was checking out and was also questioning why she was being billed so much, but she just paid it. It seems like they have very shady business practices based on my experience on 6/6. I will never go back to Optique Boutique and even canceled my follow-up appointment as I will not let them continue to rip me off. Stay away, youve been warned!

After speaking with the patient yesterday, he realized we did in fact refund him the additional $46.78 on the same day requested. The refund was processed on 7/9/24 and on that date I didn't realize a return call was needed/requested. The patient thanked me for calling and providing an explanation and removed his ****** review. I am hoping that this review will also be removed. I explained that no ill intentions were made when collecting the $66.78 up front. We were just collecting what his insurance's website showed was due from his deductible. After the insurance explanation of benefits came, we were able to see that it was just a $20 copay and able to refund the patient.
