Would not insure with Selective insurance. Have a small auto insurance claim that was clearly their insured's fault. Two and a half months later I've basically gotten a generic nonresponse.

There was a water main break on my street and it ended up flooding my recently **************. Selective insures the water company whose line broke. I filed a claim with selective,2-3 weeks later I received a call from them, they ask very few questions and never sent out an adjuster to see the damage their client caused. A week later they sent me a letter claiming government immunity. Ive come to find out they are 1 of the only insurance companies that do not cover their water companies claims. They were completely unprofessional and had their mind made up to not cover my claim before they had any information. Unfortunately this is 1 of the insurance companies that automatically deny 1st claims and then wait to see what your response is. There is no accountability

My vehicle was side swiped by one of their insured. It is going on 3 weeks since the accident and their adjuster ***************************** will not return my calls. Going to see what other legal actions I can take.

BEWARE! BEWARE! I would stay far away from Selective for either Home and/or Auto. Untimely and unfair claims service. The lack of service and urgency was astounding!!! Selective was all too happy to take my money for THIRTY-FIVE years, but when we filed an auto claim it took over two months for them to determine the car was totaled. So cheap they do not even hire their own adjusters to make a quick assessment for a policy holder in need. It sat at a shop for TWO months!! NO in-house adjustors, really??!! Even worse was the lack of communication during the very painful, aggravating and stressful claims process. Selective went out of their way to make the process difficult. DO NOT buy insurance with Selective. You have been warned and will regret the moment you need to file a claim. Moreover, I have since discovered that their rates are NOT even competitive. Sad and disgusting company!!! Good riddance! Would have given Selective NO stars if possible!!!

I have been dealing with a claim for about 2 months and it has been a horrible experience. They used stalling, bullying, and harassing tactics to avoid fair reimbursement when their insured fault was already determined and their assessor had deemed my car a total loss. It may be a small amount of money to them, but it is a lot of money to a lot of us, especially when a situation is unexpected and not your fault. There is no "doing the right thing" or even being "human" at this company. I would not recommend this company on any level.

Recently dealing with a claim where the Selectives insured merged into my lane and t boned me.INSURED FLED SCENE WITHOUT POLICE REPORT. Yet somehow the claims adjuster denied the claim without once getting my side, says she doesnt have to get my recorded statement or talk to me to come up with a decision It took me about a week of constantly calling and calling the Supervisor twice to get her to call me on June 12th. Very nasty, unprofessional and never taking fault in their insureds wrong doings. please avoid them at all costs ZERO STARS

A drunk driver wrecked into my sons vehicle and mine while parked in front of our home.. totaling both vehicles. The driver of the vehicle that hit ours was already on his second dui & second suspended license. Now, the driver of that vehicle bought the vehicle over 18 months ago and never transferred the title over into his name.. the driver worked for a friend of his who owns a garage, the friend put a ** plate on the drivers vehicle along with the garage insurance card in the glove box.. The insurance company refused to pay due to no one owning the vehicle.. the friends insurance should pay for the loss of my sons vehicle and mind. Putting the ** plate on of vehicle with an insurance card. The insurance company should be taking care of anything that happens while the plate and card are in that vehicle..
