Update on my previous post below. I have since filed a lawsuit in the District Court of Nebraska … public record for anyone to go read. Amount of money is too large for small claims so civil court it is. Agree with Jennifer S on the unethical and dishonest.

This is in response to Don's girlfriend Melissa G (who he has had enter him 5 star reviews on Google multiple times). Stephen was the one who took Don to court, and we have numerous pages of text messages documenting ALL of the problems we experienced. Don also lied in court and admitted to writing his own reviews under a fictitious name. Stephen didn't win the suit because he represented himself and isn't a lawyer, and Don tried to bully him by moving the case from small claims to civil court. We do have a plethora of photos to demonstrate his unethical behavior, strange behavior, and dishonesty. I believe Google allows reviewers to share photos in reviews. An intriguing option.

This is in response to Stephen S*******, he forgot to mention that Don took this to trial and won the case because Stephen is full of **** and Don did a bunch of extra work on his deck for free. This is also mind you the 3rd contractor that Stephen has tried to sue. Don actually does amazing work and is great at what he does. He has done a ton of work for me and I can't complain at all!!

Zero stars. I hired Don Stein with "Concept Decks & Basements" in March 2024 to build and complete a new deck in April 2024. He came recommended by family and seemed like a nice guy. He has taken just under $10,000 from me for this project, absolutely nothing has been started and he has now gone MIA. He won't respond via phone, email or mail. Over the last 3 months, I have gotten a few random text messages with varying excuses as to why he hasn't started but those have stopped and while still having my money. Proceeding with legal action and I will update this in the future with the final outcome.

When we hired Don L. Stein to replace our deck, he told us he would complete it in 8 days. He ended up taking almost four months, and each week, he would tell us numerous times that he would be done that "Wednesday," or "Monday," or sometimes, that day. He would also tell us, numerous times that he would be out that afternoon "as soon as he finished up" with whatever deck he was working on, then wouldn't show (without a text letting us know he'd changed his mind about coming). He did this a minimum of a dozen times--saying he was coming but not showing. We continually adjusted our schedule to accommodate the days and times he assured us he would be there, but again, he often didn't show. On the day we gave our final payment, he told us he would be done that day. He didn't finish for another two months (and didn't end up finishing completely, as I explain below). He also charged us for material he didn't use, and this after he'd already given us his estimate. After three months of his acting irresponsibly (and giving us more excuses than we could keep track of as to why), we told him he was being unethical and asked how many projects he had taken on after starting ours. He then let it slip that he had taken on three more and that they "wanted their decks done yesterday" but that we had been so gracious, leading us to believe he continually put off completing our deck because we were kind and focused on completing those for the more demanding customers. After that phone call, he texted us to apologize for his tone and for the constant delays and offered to complete step risers free of charge to compensate for all of the issues. We said we would appreciate that but he soon made it clear that this angered him. (I can only assume
