    We had an unsatisfactory experience with Steven Martin, the owner of Carolina Carpet Cleaning. We hired his business to clean our 9' x 12' wool rug, pickup and deliver. Because I was in a rush, I did not do my due diligence of his business. If I had, I would have noted his BBB F rating. The second mistake I made was to pay him in advance. I did this because he offered about a 12% discount. I paid by check so at least I had a record of the payment (he gave no receipt at pickup--said he would send me one). He also offered no time frame for returning the cleaned rug. After about 8 days, I inquired what was the status of the cleaning and asked for an invoice. No response. I waited a couple of days and contacted him again and told him if he did not respond immediately, I would file a complaint with the BBB and consider taking him to small claims court. He finally responded saying he had me scheduled for delivery the following week. Based on other reviews on the BBB site and social media, I was very skeptical and asked him to set a date for delivery and said that if the rug wasn't cleaned and delivered by that date, I would file a complaint with the ***************************** We set a date about 4 days later. On that date, I sent him a confirmation text to which he replied some story about his niece and asked for another couple of days. I told him sorry and that I was going to file a complaint with the ************************** He immediately called me and I agreed to give him to 3 pm the following day to returned the cleaned rug. Around 1:15 pm the next day, he delivered the rug. It was damp, had a strong odor and there were a few pieces of mulch on it. He said that because of all of the issues with this transaction, he would refund 1/2 of our payment. That was 6 days ago. I do not expect to receive a partial refund.

    Dec 26, 2023 - I am extremely unhappy with the service provided by Steven at Carolina Carpet Cleaning. More than 3 months ago, he picked up three rugs from my client to clean them and deliver as directed by my client. Steven has had personal problems that have delayed delivery of the cleaned rugs. Over the past 6-8 weeks, he has broken multiple commitments to deliver the rugs. I have offered to have them picked up, but he will not provide a new address for his business. He is no longer at ****************************************************************. He asked for a cash payment at the time the rugs were picked up. My client's family is extremely upset with the situation as well. I have used him on multiple occasions for my clients with no issues.
