I hired Sun Service Specialists, LLC (S.S.S.) to replace a defective microinverter in my solar system. The contract specified that the job would be completed in a "good and workmanlike manner" and that the system would be fully operational. However, my experience with S.S.S. has been deeply disappointing and frustrating.On August 21, 2024, two individuals from a third-party company, "*************************," showed up at my property without prior consent or communication from S.S.S. They replaced the microinverter and took photos of my property without my permission. After the replacement, another microinverter, which was previously functioning correctly, stopped working. ************** production data shows that this microinverter was damaged during the replacement process.Despite clear evidence that the issue arose due to their work, S.S.S. refused to take responsibility. They are now demanding additional payment of $299 to replace the second microinverter, claiming it is a separate issue, even though it was their team who likely caused the damage. They have also sent me a QuickBooks invoice for the remaining $149 of the original $299 service, even though the job was not completed as per the contract.I did not sign any documentation confirming that the job was complete, and S.S.S. has provided no evidence of the work done. Their refusal to fulfill their contractual obligations and their threats to send the remaining balance to collections is both unethical and illegal.I strongly advise against using Sun Service Specialists, LLC for any solar services. Their lack of accountability and disregard for contractual terms makes them an unreliable and untrustworthy company.Sun Service Specialists

Hi *****. As has been discussed with you before, your contract with Sun Service Specialists does state that Purchaser or Service customer understands that all electrical work related to the Contract will be performed by a licensed electrician, which may be an independent contractor. This was also discussed with you prior to signing your contract, to assure transparency with you as a prospective customer. Taking photos before and after work is completed is a standard practice as a means of documenting the work. This evidence of the work done was emailed to you, upon your request, on August 30. After the contracted work was completed, a second microinverter in your system failed. The manufacturer has approved the replacement of this second microinverter under the manufacturers warranty, as they believe it is due to a manufacturing defect, not damage from an installer. Sun Service has discussed this with you repeatedly, but as neither Sun Service nor any affiliated company originally installed your system or the additional microinverter in question, the replacement of that microinverter is not covered by any labor warranty with Sun Service. Thus, the replacement of that microinverter would require an additional contract. All terms of your current contract with Sun Service have been fulfilled.Review fromKristy E

We had Sun Service Solutions install a invertor that was under warranty. We paid the bill through our bank on 9/5/23. The check has been cashed. We have been called numerous times and told that our bill has not been paid. I have given them the information on the check and was told the number I used on the check was the invoice number. It was to be taken care of at that point. I just received another call from the same person tell us we had not paid our bill. When I mentioned that the number on the bank issued check was the invoice number, she said, "oh, that was me." We need to have one of our panels repaired but I am hesitant to have the work done by Sun Service. They apparently do not have their act together.Sun Service Specialists

Wish I could give them 0 star. I contacted them to install EV charger at my home. Their technicians really did a dirty job. First of all they cut the dry wall twice as the first time they cut, they weren't able to put their drill inside to make a hole in the studs to pass the wire, then they had to cut it again. After they were done they didn't put it back properly not expecting it to be perfect or do any kind of mudding or painting. Also, at the corner they didn't even fix the drywall it is just hanging there. They didn't even had proper tools or battery for drills or charger to charge the batteries(at 8:00am). Very unsatisfactory and unsafe work. Now I have to spend more than $200 to get it fixed by someone.Secondly, after the installation when I put the charger to my car after few minutes the circuit breaker tripped. I turned it back on and tried again and same thing. I complained about it and they send another technician. He replaced the Aluminum wire to Copper wire and also replaced the local (generic) 60amp circuit breaker (looks like the cheap one) with the other 60amp one. He himself mentioned that their previous technicians did a filthy and unsafe job in putting the charger and cutting the drywall twice. He also mentioned that I should be properly compensated for that.Then today I got a call from their director of Operation, ****** (Something), that guy was rude like anything. He was accusing me for everything telling me they did their job right and there will not be any compensation, even though their technician only mentioned it. I paid them 50% in advance and rest 50% was due after the satisfactory work done. The work was not done satisfactory and still I was ready to pay them, but then their ****** threatened me that if you don't pay we will report it to collection agency. Looks like this guy had something against people of different ethnicity. I had several referrals, and he also said we don't want your referrals. Not a company to get your work doneReview fromNick B

Contacted Sun Service to repair our solar system that they installed. Very poor communication from start to finish. Had to follow up several times. The inverter that they installed went bad causing our system to be unproductive for nearly 3 months. When we asked about reimbursement for the energy we paid for because of the issue we have been told that we might be receiving one. Would not recommend.Sun Service Specialists

Sun Service is very sorry to hear that this customer has had a bad experience. 9/16 We received initial communication from customer regarding his system performance via chat transcript.This initiated out remote troubleshooting process 9/20 Customer called into to our ********************** Advisor line 9/21 Service Advisor Team sent customer our standard Power Cycle process 9/21 Case was created with Inverter manufacturer requesting RMA for faulty inverter 9/21 Service Advisor had two out bound calls with this customer 9/21 Customer call into the office twice 9/21 During customer call, site visit was scheduled for 10/7 10/7 Technicians received an approved RMA when on site after diagnostic visit. Customer was advised that ******************** is at the mercy of the manufacturers and that we would update him once we received the replacement inverter from the manufacturer. Inverter swap was scheduled for 11/4 11/4 inverter was swapped out and system is up and running. 11/10 After reviewing this customer's production review for the first two years. First 12 months of production between Aug 20 - July 21 was over our production guarantee by 332.61kWh.Second 12 months of production between Aug 21 - July 22 was over our production guarantee by 433.90kWh. We will wait to see what the production of the system is from Aug 22 - July 23 once that date is reached and if the system does not produce as guaranteed we will pay the customer the difference as specified on the contract. Once again Sun Service Specialists are very sorry that we could not meet the customer's expectation on the timing of these repairs but as stated above we are still at the mercy of the manufacturers and their production capacities.Review fromCharles C

Where do I begin? Sun Service Specialist is a great company for solar services. Recently I had the unfortunate experience of having my original solar provider go out of business before they could convert my Solar Edge Inverter from a 3G Cell Phone Kit to a 5GH or 5G/6G Ethernet direct connection. I called several solar companies for help and Sun Service Specialist representative *************************** was the first to return my call. I told him I already had my CAT6 cable in place and all I needed was a hook up and reconfiguration of my Inverter Box to support Ethernet. ******** was extremely courteous, knowledgeable and friendly. He quickly said "Yes" we can meet your requirement and he provided a fixed price to perform the work. The two technicians (******* and ******) he sent arrived on the date and time we agreed to. They both were very friendly and knowledgeable about my system and answered all of my many questions and resolved my issue in less than 30 minutes. I am very happy I found Sun Service ******************* They are now my official Solar Edge monitoring company. I recently had a roof leak that I thought was under my solar panels. Even though my warranty was expired Sun Services was willing to take a look at my issue. Their techs were exceptional, professional and explained everything they were seeing in the attic. Although they did not see any damage, they removed several panels and resealed the mounts just to be on the safe side. Everyone we worked with was knowledgeable and took our issue seriously even when they did not have to. Really great customer **********************.Sun Service Specialists

Sun Service Specialists removed our solar panels and replaced them for our roof installation. ***** was great to work with. Squirrels on the roof had chewed some of the panel wiring. The technicians repaired them during the service. Since then, we had an issue with the inverter powering up. I contacted SolarEdge, they were unable to solve the problem. ***** worked the issue and while contacting him, his co-worker, Alastair, answered the phone. He gave me possibilities of what the issue could be, and asked me to update him with the status. He was correct, the fuse needed to be replaced and my issue was resolved! I am so grateful that he took the time to assist me. The customer ********************** was outstanding, starting with *****, the technicians, and Alastair. Great experience with the Sun Service Specialists team yesterday. ****** and Alastair explained how the SolarEdge app worked and how to interpret the information. They then agreed to keep an eye on my solar systems activity to look for any issues or warnings. Alastair also helped me reset the SolarEdge device to ensure it was functioning properly. Customer ********************** was outstanding!
