  I called **** to inquire about delivering 20 yards of leaf mulch from the ******* ****************** He quoted me over $550. That was more than I was willing to pay, and he came down to $485. Still way over my price. He complained about the cost of gas, the price he had to pay for tires, etc. I told him I understood, but that was out of our price range, so I bid him good day. He called the next day, said he would use a smaller truck and bring 16 yards. I told him our price was $350. He countered with $365 and I reluctantly agreed. He delivered and dumped the mulch and then stated "Tips are much obliged." I asked if he had a receipt from the yard waste site and he said no, that he just put it on his account. I wrote him a check for the agreed amount and then he asked if there was a tip on it, and I said no, that I wrote it for the agreed amount. I then went a step further and contacted the ***************** to find out how much he actually purchased. I was suspicious that he bought less, because I was pretty confident that only his larger truck would hold 16 yards. Sure enough he only bought 14 yards. And he lied about not getting a receipt. (I know the person that works the checkout). So he lied about the receipt and shorted me 2 cubic yards of mulch (which will cost ME $40 to go get on my own). A good reputation as a fair business person is priceless, and for a small sum of money, he not only got a bad review on Nextdoor, but he will get his second complaint on Better Business Bureau (which if I had known his full name and the name of his business, I would have checked.). But now you know, Southeastern Builder Services and *********************** will scam you and is not a person you want to do business with.
