We had a bad experience with Joshua *******. We hired him on 24 Feb 2023 to extend our existing deck & add a roof. By 04 Oct 2023, he still hadn't completed the job. During the process, he gave us hardship excuses as to why the project was moving along so slowly. Then we learned the real reason - he spent money we gave him to buy materials on himself. When he asked us to pay for the same materials a 2nd time & we'd  have to wait for him to raise enough money to buy gas to get to & from our house we cut ties with him. A few of the many specifics of our experience with Joshua ******* are:1. Besides delays, he also found ways of overcharging, i.e. (1) Based on info from the truss company, the actual cost of the trusses was $1222.22. Allotting 20% markup makes the cost $1466.66. Josh charged us $1813. Plus he asked us to pay $722.22 more because he didn't have the money to pay for them when they came in. (2) He charged $500 for a minor change to a CAD drawing. We know CAD & called him on it so he agreed to credit it. On Jul 12, we paid him $7405.43; his invoice reflected $3405.43. By Oct he still hadn't corrected this $4000 "mistake". (4) His invoices lacked detail, so we suspect there were more.2. His time management & workmanship  leaves a lot to be desired. (1) Mid-project & not necessary at the time he removed a portion of our roof & gutter  & walked away leaving the area exposed & the remaining part of the gutter uncapped even tho a storm was predicted & did move in that evening. (2) He often worked only a few hours each time & left messes including chunks of cement, boards, screws, nails & debris A positive is, we appreciated his suggestion of using a fan truss style roof. *We will never hire Joshua Nettles again. If you decide to take a chance keep meticulous notes, buy the materials yourself & be cautious of his excuses. Then still be prepared to lose because as the saying goes "you can't get blood from a turnip".
