  We tested our daughter looking to enroll her in Sylvan. A charity organization would contribute to this tutoring. After the assessor told us this charity contribution would be minimal (He was telling us wrong information) and that we'd have to pay a large part of this. He brushed over the assessment and moved right away into the Packages that would be paid up front. He pushed the 100 hour packages (very expensive) and encouraged a quick decision. We thought the tutoring necessary would be less Was Sylvan getting the charity contribution and charging us? (Double dipping?) This seemed like a traditional hard sell using the classic tricks. The focus was more on selling the packages than the content of education. We were promised sending us test results and never got them.

  I enrolled my daughter in June 2021 as my husband and I were concerned with gaps her education (as she was primarily distance learning for an entire academic year ).We were also in the process of selling and purchasing a new home and moving outside the area. Before we signed and paid for anything, we inquired if moving to a different center would be a problem, and we were ensure that it wouldnt be. We even inquire about moving to a Sylvan owned my a different franchisee. We were told that they would work with them, and I asked them to even make a note in the file as we were actively working on the move.We paid in full for a math and reading package as it was a discounted price to do so. The center that we wanted to transfer to was owned by a different franchise. When we approached them on the transfer, the informed us that since it is a different owner, they charged $60 per tutoring hour my daughter already received when they were charging previously a much discounted price per hour. They also charge us an additional thousand dollars for as a nonrefundable fee that was never outline previously. I am greatly disappointed in my experience with this company. I would never recommend their services to anyone. I feel like they take advantage of parents that are trying to do the best for their children. I escalated it up the chain as this had to be an I escalated it up the chain as this had to be a mistake. ********, all I requested was fairness and to stand by what your staffers agreed to. You denied me that. I hope the couple thousand dollars you stole was worth it.
