On January 2, 2024, the business entered into a Consent Order with the Minnesota Department of Commerce. The Consent Order settles allegations that the business and its agent, Ronald Walsh charged consumers for legal services that were not requested or provided and paid others for legal services when closing on residential mortgage loans, a violation of Minn. Stat. 45.027, subd. 7(a)(4), 60K.43, subd, 1(8); improperly withheld or converted money or property received when doing business as an insurance agent, a violation of Minn. Stat. 60K.43, subd. 1(4); failed to observe standards of conduct for the agent's insurance business, a violation of Minn. Stat. 45.027, subd. 7(a)(2), 60K.43 subd. 1(2) and Minn. R. 2795.1000 and that Mr. Walsh used his notary authority to assist others in obtaining payments from residential mortgage loans, a violation of Minn. Stat. 45.027, subd. 7(a)(2), (4), 359.12 (2016), 358.70, subd. 1(8) (2020).
Under terms of the Consent Order, the business agreed to suspension of Mr. Walsh's insurance producer license for seven years from June, 2021; Mr. Walsh's notary commission is suspended for seven years beginning January 2023 and the business, Entitle Inc., agency license is revoked from October 2021. The business and Mr. Walsh shall pay $20,000.00 of a $100,000.00 civil penalty, with the balanced stayed on the condition that they comply with the terms of this consent order and have not further violations of any law, rule or order under Minnesota Department of Commerce authority.
