(8-04-22) I was having problems with water damaging the wood trim on my garage so I had MN Windows and Siding provide an estimate for a new piece of wood trim on my garage, aluminum fascia trim and gutters. During my estimate I pointed to the aluminum trim on my house, which completely covered the wood trim, and said I wanted that. The aluminum trim this company installed on the back of my garage was wide open on the top allowing water to continue to run down and damage the wood. I immediately called the office and owner and asked if I could get a drip edge installed. Most homes have a drip edge whether or not they have gutters. They are always along the edges of the roof or shingles, and they are critical in keeping water from running down the fascia boards and soffits causing wood rot. No one responded. So I went to Home Depot, purchased roof drip edging, cut them, and placed them under the shingles, but I do not own a nail gun. I called the owner again and said I just needed help nailing it on. He said he would need to come and look at it but he never came. (11-07) When he picked up his final payment I had him look at the drip edge. He examined it and said someone would come and nail it on. He said if no one came in the next week to call him again. (11-12) No one came. I called again, but this time, since he was completely paid, I received a totally different response. He said no one was coming, and he very angrily said that I was trying to get something added that was not on the estimate. At the time of the estimate I thought the aluminum trim they were installing would completely cover and keep moisture away from the wood. It was not until I saw how they installed the aluminum trim that I knew I needed a drip edge added. Everything I needed to keep water away from my wood trim should have been automatically added for me at the time of the estimate. Customers should not have to be roofing experts. Extremely poor problem resolution.
