  During the February 14, 2023 blizzard in Clay County, ** my wife and her car were trapped on I-94 near ***********, ** for over 14 hours. My wife had to abandon the car as she ran out of gas and once the interstate was reopened she was able to ride with other travelers to our home in ********, **. The *********** contracted ****'s Towing to tow my wife's car without our knowledge or approval -- not entire unusual give the stranded vehicles on I-94. **** successfully towed the car without issue. My issue with this company is ****'s pricing. He charged me $500 to tow the vehicle off the interstate, which is almost precisely double the price for a tow of similar distance I had from a company in **************, ** about 15 days prior to this blizzard event. The circumstances of the tows were, in my opinion, not so dissimilar as to warrant the $500 tow. Furthermore, I've tried to confirm that ****'s Tire and Towing is business registered with the ********* Secretary of State. To date, I have yet to confirm the business is a valid business with the ******************. ******* "****" **** is the owner and I did speak with him about my situation. **** and I disagree about the suitability and appropriateness of his fees. **** did provide me tax identification information at my request, but that information is of little use in confirming the business as a legitimate business in the ******************. **** will tell you he's been in business a long time -- which may be true, but for my wishes, I'd like to see the business registered with *********** Secretary of State. Beyond all of this -- a word of caution: you might want to negotiate a price up front and possibly shop around for competitive pricing.

  Nobody wakes up in the morning and says, "I can't wait to go buy the service of a tow truck today." This recovery was dispatched to ****'s Tire and Towing by the state patrol, as the vehicle was abandoned and a hazard since they were trying to get the interstate back open. The vehicle was not a simple hook up and tow, it was drifted in from the night before due to the blizzard. This required shoveling and time, which is part of our job to safely transport the vehicle without damage. It is unfortunate that people drive in conditions when it is well forecasted that there is extreme winds causing blizzard conditions. ******* did talk with this party to explain the bill and reasoning for the pricing, which we feel is fair due to the situation and services provided. Word of advice-stay home when you can't see 5 feet in front of your car.
