***************** is the owner of **************. He calls himself a Handyman. We agreed on a contract to complete a deck, with an attached Gazebo. He required 1/3 down, which he said was to place me on his calendar. Then when he began working on the job, he requested another 1/3 down. Each payment was for $4000. Total amount he was payed was $8000. **** constantly argued with me about the blueprints I had drawn out and had the ********* inspector accept. This permit cost me $205.98. When I told **** that I wanted the posts placed per the permit, he disagreed. He covered the ledger board with steel, which is not compatible with Treated lumber. I made him remove it and he did so still arguing with me. I told him not to use anything but hot galvanized materials such as screws or nails and he disagreed about that. I actually had to show him an article stating this, as to which screws were compatible with treated lumber. He then went and bought a large box of deck screws and attached the joists with them. I told him that I did not agree with this so I asked the inspector to come look at his work and it failed. All of the deck screws had to be removed and replaced with compatible structural screws. He did this and inspection passed. When he placed the posts on the deck he did not center them. He also destroyed one of the deck boards called picture framing and he said he would redo this and he did not prior to quitting the job prior to completion. When he began to work on the gazebo, he had me purchase 2 x 6's (24) of them to frame the roof of the gazebo. When I got home from work, he used these expensive boards to secure the 14 foot posts together. I did not want this done. I told him what I wanted and he said then that he was going to ******* for 2 weeks and he would return and finish the work. This included, the deck rails, spindles, stairs, skirt, and 16 deck boards which are 16 feet long, and roof on the gazebo. He is a dishonest man.
