I had paid Triple E to come repair my HVAC unit at my 750 sq ft. condo. They sent a tech, Mario, who was very friendly, he quoted me $600 to replace the motherboard and we also discussed the cost to replace the furnace as it was 20+ years old and possibly also the AC compressor. On August 3, 2023 they gave me a contract for approximately $9,800 to review and sign, asking for 1/3 of the cost (about $3300) upfront before they began work. I signed the contract and paid the downpayment. Afterwards on August 8, 2023 the owner Mike Ewing added other requirements to our agreement before he would approve installation including getting a chimney inspection that required me hiring another contractor to do a chimney inspection (for $120 ) which led to a $2000 estimate to replace some of the flue pipes, which then would require the HOA property management company to approve that level of work, which also led the HOA into looking to repairing it themselves. Mike then retroactively modified the language of the contract Invoice (August 8, 2023) AFTER it had already been signed by me to include the required chimney pipe work stating the gas line would be left off and the furnace left inoperable until the flue pipe had been inspected (then repaired and evaluated as passed). I believe this constitutes contract fraud -- Modifying the agreement after signing without getting additional signatures documenting my consent to move forward with the project given the new terms, I would not have signed the contract so quickly had Mike or Mario explained all the additional addendums they would want to have added. With the delay in having multiple agents now involved in this, Mike became very impatient, aggressive and hostile during follow up phone calls where he pressured me to move forward with the installation. When his intimidating approach didn't work on me he tried pleading with me to do the full installation so he could get paid but that he would not turn on the natural gas line.
