    In December 2021, we contracted with H&C to replace a gas boiler and line our chimney. The boiler installation was timely completed, but there was a minor leak that H&C failed to correct until September 2022. In addition, the chimney liner work was not begun until the spring of 2022, after months of procrastination by H&C'. Because of our dissatisfaction with H&C for its inattention to the leak and delinquent prosecution of the liner project, we engaged another HVAC company, Hecox, to perform the annual seasonal check on the boiler. Hecox performed this examination in October 2022, a few weeks after H&C had finally fixed the leak.

    Hecox advised us that the boiler installation was not done in conformance with the manufacturer's instructions. Hecox quoted us a price of $340 for correcting H&C's errors Those errors were the misorientation of the pump, which was rotated 180 degrees from what it should have been, and the misplacement of the expansion tank vis-a-vis the pump. We contracted with Hecox to correct the deficiencies in H&C's installation; Hecox performed this work in October 2022; and we paid them upon their completion of the job.

    Upon learning from Hecox of H&C's installation errors, we contacted H&C. But we received no response after sending two e-mails about a month apart, the first after Hecox had given us a quote to correct H&C's faulty installation and the second after Hecox had performed the corrective work at issue.

    My name is **** ******, *** ******** ****** and I have been a two decade plus service contract customer of H&C. I have discovered another complaint to BBB against H&C in circumstances comparable to mine. After such complaint, H&C reimbursed the dissatisfied consumer for his expense of having another HVAC company correct H&C's defective work. That is the remedy that I would regard as fair.
