Bob from Mayes Plumbing and Heating came home and fixed the water heater within a minute where another professional had told me to replace the unit due to rusting. Bob also appreciated health of the water heater. Many thanks to you, you have saved me a big hassle. thank you, ***Review fromTonisha W

This business should be fined or closed due to horrible work performance and customer service. My home warranty uses this company and I am forced to deal with them. They are currently supposed to fix an active leak in my home and need to come back to complete the work. The dispatcher Theresa is very unprofessional. She speaks very rudely to customers and is unapologetic when called on it. I have previously been forced to use them & here is my experience: The technician came out to fix a clogged bathroom sink, toilet that wouldn’t properly flush, & cloudy water coming from kitchen sink. He completed the work in the bathroom leaving all the trash behind and a mess. I called the office to see what was the diagnosis of the kitchen sink & the woman rudely stated that they would not know what the technician found until the next day when he turned in the paperwork. I had to call the following week after getting a random email asking if I accept the new kitchen faucet they wanted to order. Again the woman was rude and told me he wanted to put in a faucet because my hot water wasn’t working. I told her that wasn’t my issue & so she looked again and just said “well he’s hoping replacing the faucet will fix the water problem. I asked if there would be paperwork to support what he said he found and fixed and she said “we will give you that at the end.” Previously companies have always left a work order and some form of paperwork for what was done and any pending work. The technician comes out with the faucet and the edges are covered in whatever sealant he used. It’s sloppy and does not look like a professional did it. Again no paperwork! I’ll be letting AHS know to take them off my list of approved providers.Review fromAllen W

I had placed a claim with ******** ********** for a plumbing issue with my tub. Mayes Plumbing was dispatched to my home and diagnose the problem accurately and told me I needed a diverter and handle, and the parts would take a couple of weeks to arrive. The first plumber was on time and accurate with his assessment. Another plumber came out to put the parts in but was missing some items and they said they would have to return. Weeks later, a third plumber came by to fix the issue, but still was missing parts. I have made numerous phone calls to Mayes Plumbing and ******** ********** and as of today, July 14th my tub is still not functional. I have had three plumbers to my home since May 10th and one missed appointment. along with no follow up phone calls from the service manager. I was called today, July 14th from the parts person and given an appointment for July 19th. I am awaiting a phone call from the owner.Review fromChristopher A

Home Warranty sent them out for a broke water heater and leaking main water valve. The technician glanced at the water main (which I had jerry-rigged to stop spraying), didn't see any dripping and brushed it off; not fixing it as they were sent out to do. For the water heater the technician spent most of his time gawking at old chimney venting and the size of the tank. He never told me what I needed, what was needed to bring things up to code, etc. The next business day I get information from the home warranty of the extra costs. Blindsided by this, I called Mayes and got a customer service rep who seemed very annoyed that I was calling. She stated they didn't have the records in. When I called back later, they still seemed bothered by having to talk to me. For the water main valve they said that since they didn't SEE it leaking right then and there they weren't going to touch it. I asked for the list of the extra costs and was told that they only give that 'verbally'. When asked about switching to an electric hot water heater they quoted me 3500$ and eventually said, "No we cannot replace your water heater, it is too large. We'll be telling the home warranty we cannot do it." Very unprofessional by all employees. (water main valve never got fixed)Mayes Plumbing & Heating

Mr. *********** *******, first we would like to apologize for the frustrating experience you’ve encountered with our recent service visit regarding the water heater and main water valve in your home. We visited your home on Saturday 05/13 and as you know and have mentioned your service was through your warranty company ******** **** ****** (***). Going through a warranty means that there are rules/policies we as a vendor have to follow when providing service and with this *** only authorizes repairs up to a point along with certain equipment for every service visit. Then anything beyond that has to have the next steps called in to *** authorization (AUTHO) department where THEY make the determination based on your individual contract and their policies whether or not an item will be covered. Whenever a service is needed/requested they send out the necessary vendor initially for DIAGNOSIS ONLY; whether they repair, replace, order parts, have to return or it is covered or not. So with that being said your main water valve (which you even state here in the review) was not leaking upon our arrival so because of that your warranty company would not authorize us to do anything with it because by their standards there technically was no mechanical failure with it at the time of service. As for the water heater there is a few things going on with that. First the unit needed to be replaced and both the water heater and flue/vent pipe must be brought up to current county code with the replacement. The technician took some time looking at the flue/vent pipe because in your particular county it is against code due to being a serious safety concern of having any fuel burning appliance going into a masonry chimney. The other important thing with the water heater in your situation is that there is an access issue with the doorframe and wall space. Both the existing unit and the new unit are as wide as the door frame opening so because of that you would have needed to remove some wood section of the doorframe but also sign a waiver concerning possible damage to the doorframe and wall when taking the old one out and bringing the new one in. Even with the electric water heater it would still require the waiver because of the access issue. All tickets are brought back to the office the following business day to be gone over with the service manager and (as we stated earlier) gets called into ***’ autho department so that is why at the time you called we did not have the information yet. This was done that following Monday the 15th and everything was given to *** verbally, nothing written but once we perform the work then we provide a written receipt at that time. Please understand no one was intentionally trying to blindside you but the coverage is not up to us as it is determined by your warranty company and they are responsible for informing and explaining to you when they are not covering something. As for moving forward with any work you were the one who refused making that a no go. When we sent you our “Flue Agreement” on 05/15 which explains about the flue/vent pipe needing to be brought up to current code for the replacement and requires you to agree to the terms to move forward with replacement, you replied back to that almost immediately with the response “I do not agree to anything. I do not wish to work with you all ever again.” Since you refused to work with us in a written statement and did not agree to either the Flue agreement or waiver we have no choice but to respond with we cannot replace your heater. We hope this helps to clarify things and please contact our office or let BBB know through this review if you have other questions, concerns or need further clarification and we will make it a priority to get you taken care of. We do hope moving forward that should you have another plumbing issue we can have the opportunity to assist you. Thank you again for sharing your experience and we hope all is working properly at this time.Review fromJessica C

This plumbing company was dispatched to my home for a leaking kitchen faucet. The technician was in my home for just a few minutes and didn't touch anything, just took pictures of the water leaking and let me know that this visit was meant for a diagnosis, not a repair. He left with no resolution, and it took 10 days for him to be dispatched back out for the repair. The water damage that my cabinetry and hardwood floors incurred during this time was significant will require several more home repairs. The technician found on this second visit that he didn't have the right equipment to repair the faucet, and at that point I was contacted by an argumentative receptionist that I should go purchase my own faucet and they would return to repair it then. At this point I called another plumber, who came in the same day and found that a pipe fitting simply needed tightened underneath the faucet and it was repaired in minutes. This technician was unprofessional, argumentative and lacked the knowledge, skill and intention to complete the repair and provide any level of customer service.Review fromRobyn G

They were contracted through AHS. Initial appointment was 8/8/22. Haven't been able to get them to come back and fix the things that truly were not fixed. I have called and so has AHS; they didn't even respond to AHS! They seem extremely disorganized and don't keep the 6 hour windows they give - coming 2 hours later past the windows and surprised when someone is not home. They also set appointments they forgot to let the customers know about. Lastly, the person that does respond( only responded when I threatened to report them to BB), acts like she's doing you a favor by responding. Literally, told me that one of the services was a "courtesy" and proceeded to complain about AHS although they had already been paid for the service. I also want to mention the solution that was put into my kitchen drain ate away the lining of my dishwasher. The water has been sitting in the pipes and drain of the dishwasher which has smelled awful for over a month now. I'm surprised that the worker would put such a harsh chemical down the drain since I had mentioned that water was backing up into the dishwasher. After several complaints about the company over this one situation, AHS is considering dumping them. I find that funny since many people take issue with AHS. DO NOT HIRE THIS COMPANY!Review fromJazzmine J

David or whatever the guys name was who was supposed to be my service tech decided to snap a picture of the area instead of do his job and look at the area to make a proper diagnosis as the company was supposed to. I was lied to and told by the company another tech would come out with a ladder who could actually PHYSICALLY LOOK AT THE AREA which they were supposed to do the first time, however instead they decided to make their own assumptions based off how high my ceilings are and send my home warranty company a false diagnosis without anyone ACTUALLY LOOKING AT THE PIPE AND AREA! Stop being lazy and provide home owners with the value of assessment they deserve instead of being condescending and trying to undermine individuals!!! All you had to do was view the pipe and area or have a service tech with a ladder come view the area LIKE YOU SAID YOU WOULD!!!! I will ensure the area is looked at regardless if the CEO of this place has to view it themselves and moving forward I will never allow you all to be matched as my service provider this is ridiculous! I'm a VP in service and I will ALWAYS do my due diligence before making assumptions no matter how right I believe I am!!!! It's what your paid to do put your ego aside! The first time I used you all months ago for another issue the guy with all the tats and piercings was awesome- this go around Customer lost! : ( pick another contractor!!!Review fromShamie S

If I could give zero stars I would. I put a ticket in on March 3rd, and the issue was not fixed till May 12th. For the first month I had tried getting in touch with this company through American Home Shield and it was an endless talk of having to leave messages and them not responding. Finally after a month I contacted Mayes on my own to be informed this issue must have "fallen through the cracks" on April 22nd. One of their associates informed me that he was scheduling me for that following Wednesday, April 27th. Wednesday rolls around and no one ever shows so I call their office. I am told basically by the supervisor that I am a liar. That they pulled the call and no one ever told me I was scheduled, which was a lie. They then told me that no one could come out till the following day, that they do not have emergency staff. Mind you it has been two months since I have had hot water. Finally they come out and tell me that the water heater needs to be replaced. Almost two weeks pass and apparently they still had not received the water heater. Well I call American Home Shield and they tell me it should have been delivered 5/5. I had just spoken with Mayes prior and they told me they had not received it. Well once American Home Shield calls them apparently they have it and it was delivered 5/5. When the lady scheduled me to make an appointment she then proceeded to tell me they did not receive it 5/5, that they received it 5/10. Then they have the nerve after all this time, two months without hot water, to tell me they can't come out for another two days. Words cannot stress how far away to stay away from this company! They are not understanding at all, treat their customers like crap, and lie. VERY UNPROFESSIONAL!!
