We adopted a kitten in June and within a week had him at Urgent Care. He was diagnosed with a highly contagious virus and died six months later. Heartbreaking.

Great shelter. They really care about the pets that come through the shelter and make the best decisions for the dogs. I have adopted a dog from them and had the best experience.

Their hard working team gives everything they have (and then some) to save the lives of thousands of animals from all over the country. Even better, they help them find loving homes with families and individuals in the metro area!

Unleashed is a joke. I adopted a pit/mix from them two years ago and the entire thing was sketchy. They made me wait a month for her to get spayed (obvi she has to be spayed) and randomly chose a date without telling me. I showed up on a whim to visit her and she was gone. No one seemed to know I was adopting her (after having an approved application and visiting her every single day). She got back from her spay and her insides were coming out of her body so they directed me to the vet that spayed her and it was a sketchy, dirty clinic. They informed me she had a high fever, ringworm and that she blew out all of her stitches (in less than 24 hours) so they placed staples that later got infected and were only halfway in. The ringworm was a bacterial infection from laying in her own f**** and it took 2 years for her hair to grow back regularly. Side note: they told me she was 2 years old and she still had PUPPY TEETH. She was in fact only 7 months old. I know aging is always a guess, but thats a come on. Fast forward 2 years. Im fostering to adopt a chihuahua that was originally at a different shelter and being transferred to Unleashed due to bite history. She was in my possession the entire time and I got permission from unleashed to never bring her into them to stay at their facility and just adopt her while she was in my care. The dog never cost them money, never entered their facility, and received one rabies shot from them upon adoption which I drove her to get at their clinic. Unleashed then CHARGED ME $300 for a dog they never cared for or housed. I fostered her right into adoption and they screwed me over. I wouldve understood a small fee for the vaccines or even asking for a donation, but they literally spent $0 on this dog. Only gained my $300. Its a joke and its a lie that all those dogs would be dead if they werent there. Do they think they are the only rescue/shelter in the *******? Thats a scare tactic.

Hello ********* I am terribly sorry to hear that you did not have a great experience with Unleashed. We take the care of our animals very seriously and I'm sure we would have helped ***** with her post-spay complications. It also looks like we had her at 1 year old at the time of adoption. It looks like we did do testing, vaccines, and preventions with ***** the chihuahua you adopted. All fosters take animals into their home to care for them and give them a soft place to land before adoption. We charge an adoption for every animal with every adopter and/or ****** and we provide all supplies to fosters. If a ****** choose to pay for their own supplies, that is their choice but it is outlined in our contract we provide. Most dogs we take in are being pulled from facilities where they most certainly would be euthanized we do take in animals that other rescues will not consider. Like ***** who was transferred because her fate was unknown with her bite history. We do our best to provide everyone with a great experience and would be happy to discuss this further. Please reach out to us at **************************************************** to discuss.

I have fostered and volunteered with Unleashed. The compassion the staff have for these animals is wonderful. It is sad to know a few people have tried to sabotage the rescue. Ask they are doing is hurting the pets. Much love ******** and staff!

Corrupt leadership spends an unethical amount of money on administrative expenses when they need to correct the uninhabitable and squalor conditions they keep these poor animals in! Its heinous. They routinely fail health inspections. Why hasnt something been done about all the things that need changed to ensure these animals are getting proper care and medical treatment? Too many issues to post here, but PEOPLE PLEASE DO YOUR RESEARCH BEFORE YOU DONATE MONEY TO LINE THE OWNERS POCKETS WHILE THEY ALLOW UNACCEPTABLE LIVING CONDITIONS AND LACK OF MEDICAL CARE FOR THESE DEFENSELESS ANIMALS! Tens of thousands of roaches and a large pit filled with stagnant water (from when it used to be an automotive shop). Undisclosed highly contagious and life threatening animal diseases running rampant and affecting the animals they adopt out. Infected and untreated wounds from negligent treatment of dogs with calming vests on that are too small and cause physical injury. There are simply no excuses for any of this.

Hello,I am terribly sorry to hear that you feel that way about our organization. Itt is very unfair for you to pose judgement on our founder and state "facts" are that completely untrue when you have no knowledge of how the organization is run. A lot of the issues being brought to light at this time have or are being resolved at this time. I highly suggest visiting our main ******** page to watch the video walk through of our shelter to get a better representation of our facility and not the one-sided information you are seeing online. Thank you for your time.

These people care nothing about the people that are contacting them regarding a pet. I got an application approved to adopt a dog and I drove over 2 1/2 hours to pick the dog up only to be told the dog had been adopted from someone off the street 30 minutes after I had emailed the office staff telling her I was coming. The least they couldve done was texted or emailed me that the dog had been taken instead of letting me drive 120 miles through heavy traffic in ***********. The only thing these people care about is the money. if she had told me that I could pay for the dog online I wouldve done that and then come and picked him up. I dont know what the online application and approval is for if it doesnt count for anything. The administration needs to review their practices and replace the office help. The welfare of the animals would be better served with prior approvals that are better researched taking precedence over walk in adopters. The animals welfare is not being recognized by this group. Please beware.

Hello, I am terribly sorry to hear that you did not have a great experience with Unleashed. As explained to you previously, animals that are fixed and ready to go at our shelter can be adopted at any point and there is not an option to pay on website so we are not sure where you were told that information. We do our best to provide everyone with a great experience and would be happy to discuss this further. Please reach out to us at **************************************************** to discuss.

My new adopted cat after few hours disappeared, she wasnt adopted from Unleashed Pet, BUT when Ive called them to see if anybody found her & turned her in to them? Very kind, nice, immediately asked me for information & emailed them her photos. Plus the person gave few tips (Tuna), and pre much combed me down, not to stress. The smell Tuna as she said made my cat to show-up! Im so thankful to them.
