      They are trying to say I used over 88,000 gallons of water in 6 days. Which is absurd. They told me it was a legitimate read. Then told my property management company that it was an administrative error. They have not resolved this charge for over a month now. My issue was exedited more than 2 weeks ago, yet no one has called me. They were supposed to come check the meter 2 days ago, then that was changed to yesterday, and still no one has come out, and they don't know when they will. I'm getting really tired of having to call them to speak to people who don't know what they are even talking about.

      I have never had to do business with a company that is harder to work with, less convenient, and less considerate of its customers. The water service line from the water main to my house sprung a leak last January/February, resulting in a bill of over $1,600. We got the water line fixed, ended up still paying over $1,200 after fighting for some kind of discount tooth and nail, and our water bill had been normal ever since. Cut to this February and another whopping bill, this time over $1,700. I couldn’t believe it. I was ready to call the contractor who installed the service line and let him know his work was shoddy.
      I put in a request to have a technician from the water company inspect the water meter. Lo and behold, he came and discovered that the water company had estimated my bill based on last year’s astronomical one due to the leak instead of getting an actual read on the meter. They overestimated my bill around 475,000 gallons. The technician was personable, understanding, and willing to take the time to be thorough and explain the situation. He has been the ONLY positive aspect of having to deal with American Water.
      Before leaving, he uploaded his notes to my account and advised me to call in and have them correct my bill. I called in and, per the usual, received atrocious customer service. The agent sounded like they’d rather be absolutely anywhere on earth than fielding this phone call. The only answer I got after she “reviewed” my account was that it would take 20 TO 30 DAYS for my bill to be reviewed and corrected. I’m sorry, but in an age where I can get a chat AI to write a full movie script or fix SQL code, how can the “process” for subtracting the actual number of gallons used from the estimated number of gallons used and multiplying that by the price per gallon take a month? If that’s the case, then you need to take a long hard look at your process and give it a complete overhaul. (to be continued)

      Company is terrible. Moved in in Feb. '23. Didn't do a reading until July, put in notes that the meter is broken. Didn't do another reading, nor did they fix the meter until October of '23. Only fixed the meter but didn't read it until December. Meanwhile, charging us $50/month, which we have been faithfully paying. Read it and it was off the charts. Was given a bill for over $700. Upon further investigation, they decided to take the reading off of a broken meter and back charged us to May of '23. When we talk to them they tell us that they won't bill us because it was due to a broken meter. One meter reader stated, "The high bill is due to nonsensical estimation due to a broken meter. Re-bill customer." They are holding us to the $700 even though there is proof that there is a broken meter, that it is clear that the meter is broken which therefore gives us wrong numbers. When we call, they say they will work with us but then email us telling us they are holding to it. They continue to keep giving us the run around and won't take care of their mistake while we are sitting on not only a $700 water bill but a $1200 sewer bill due to the sewer company having to go off of the water company to bill us. And due to them doing estimations rather than actual readings, our bill for both water and sewer are going to be crazy high due to what they are charging us now.

      Why do they shut your water off if you are FORCED to be enrolled in auto pay. Shutting water off in 2 days yet I am enrolled in auto pay..WHAT? CALLED AND SAT ON HOLD FOR OVER 2 HOURS.. NO ONE ANSWERED . this place needs to GO!!!

      forgot to pay bill, company turned my water off. Was trying to get water turned back on, they have a 3 pm window for that day. Why on earth is the deadline at 3 Pm. that's crazy. I am suppose to get emails but never did. they won't come out and turn my water back on. I'm beyond pissed. they literally turned my water off 30 minutes to an hr. before I paid my bill. but yet they want to take their sweet time turning it on. I have 5 kids, this is absolutely ridiculous.

      Every time I've payed my balance off & they call me just 2wks later claiming i owe same amount or will be disconnected. I asked the last guy Do u hear yourself? U say u see i I payed it off but trying to say i owe same amount when it should not be no more than maybe $30 for this next month. He was apologizing felt bad as if he's told to do that to customers smh

      Terrible costumer service no notice or anything stating when the water would be shut off called to have it turned back on was told it would be sometime the following day apparently from other costumers this isn’t the first time they’ve had issues amazing how they’re still in business and haven’t been shut down

      Company is horrible, manipulative, and a bully!! Literally 10 days late due to LIFE and we get a threatening “final termination notice”
      Over 50 bucks? How about a nice reminder letter? They legit have no ethics and I wish there was a way to take the company down!

      By far the absolute worse utility company I have ever encountered. I intially spoke to a representative that told be services would be restored only to get a note on my door that stated I had to accept liability before the water could be restored.The service call was rescheduled. I was told by the representative that I would receive a call before the technician came out because the company was unable to give me a time frame on when they would come. I never received a call from any technician instead there was a note in my door that stated they attempted to call. I had no missed calls from any number including unknown numbers. The unprofessionalism is absolutely unbelievable

      This company is awful and has no ethics. Being charged more for water in a few months than most folks pay for an entire year. When you call and ask about it they agree with you and put in a dispute claim. Thirty days later you get a letter in the mail stating that the account is accurate. The next day you get a letter saying now the account is past due and being sent to collections. When you call back and state how something is wrong, they agree with you and submit a dispute, rinse and repeat. I have called so many times and asked to speak to a supervisor and they never transfer to a supervisor. They told me on 5-10 different occasions that I was on a supervisor call back list. Finally, one time I got a call from a supervisor during work and they left a call back number. Well no one ever answers and picks up that call back number. I’ve probably called 50 times. They have close and opened up my account several times without my consent, further convoluting my statements. I paid so much extra money that they fixed it one time and gave me credit. Next thing I know they close that account and my credit disappeared. They sent me check and never explained what the check is for. I thought the check was for my previous credit, but then they go and charge me for the exact same amount on the new account they opened under my name. They continue to give me estimated billing when I have complained about this. This place has horrible business practices, awful business ethics, and zero level of professionalism. Highway robbery as far as I am concerned. I am really considering calling the news and reporting them.
