    I want to warn other consumers about a deceptive billing practice I experienced with Comcast/Xfinity.On March 11, 2025, I updated my Comcast internet service for my family home in *****************, ********, after the passing of my mother. While handling account matters during bereavement, I was offered a promotion for a free iPad and a free Xfinity *********** line.I asked repeatedly via chat if the mobile line would truly be free and was assured several times that it would be. I have transcripts confirming this. The iPad arrived as promised, but to my surprise, I began receiving bills for the free mobile service in April, with a due date in May.I contacted Xfinity support via chat on April 21, and only then was the issue acknowledged and supposedly resolved. I have documentation of that conversation too.This experience was frustrating, misleading, and frankly exploitative especially during a time of personal grief. I acted in good faith. Comcast/Xfinity did not.This feels like a bait-and-switch, and it could easily mislead less experienced customers into ongoing charges for a service they were told was free. Im now left wondering how many others were similarly misled but didnt catch it in time.If youre considering any free promotional offer from Comcast/Xfinity, get everything in writing, save your chats, and double-check your billing.
