The true intent of this "organization" is truly unknown. The term organization is in quotes because there is none. They do not respond to emails unless they are constantly pestered, they make promises but never follow up, and they leave dogs in ****** care for months without showing them at local adoption events. They attempt to raise money for internal needs or for random dogs but can't be bothered to adopt existing dogs for $500. That money could have been used on supporting the animals currently in care and provide the dog or cat with a forever home. Instead they needlessly leave a dog with a ****** parent for months on end... that is of course assuming that the dog is even truly available from the start. Constant reviews also show that they do not provide medical info even though promised. This business should be shut down. It doesn't matter that it's a "volunteer supported" not for profit. Someone needs to be in charge.

Stay away from *** unless you have a lot of time or you don't mind being heartbroken. We turned in our paperwork and pictures as required. We visited the 7 month old twice and then we still had to wait a week for ***** to email back saying that the dog needs to be near the ****** home. That wasn't part of the criteria. She offered another dog instead. I guess the other dogs don't need to be close to their ******. There is no phone number or address for this person that runs this adoption outfit on her own. I didn't trust her, so I told her that we will go elsewhere.

This potential adopter wanted a pet named ***** - but also submitted that they wanted to meet more than 1 pet (9/16.2023 - Applied for Noodle, *************** They came into the adoption event handed in an application (1 via email and 2 more applications in person with more pets including another named ********). We then obtained their information per out rules on our adoption process (pictures of home and yard). They stated they wanted to meet multiple pets before making their decision. They then showed up at our next event and complained in front of the entire PETCO Store and complained that we were not responsive. They then stated they never wanted to meet other pets. We have their emails showing their need for multiple pets interactions. We as a not for profit, try to accommodate hundreds of applicants. As we had other applications on the dog ***** where the adopter did not want to meet any other pets, we gave this pet to another adopter that was the fit for the pet. We also Offered ************************* another pet instead and they rejected. NOTE WE HAVE ALL EMAILED Correspondence and Multiple applications from this individual showing their need to meet more than one pet.

We adopted our daughter from this organization 11 years ago. She was found roaming the streets and was taken to a kill shelter and saved by ******* and her rescue. She is the most wonderful dog and so loyal to us. We were so in awe of the process we had to go to through adopt that we started fostering a year later. Weve been with the rescue for over 10 years and fostered over 400 pups. The care our rescue takes in finding the best homes is second to none. Yes it takes time and a lot of people arent willing to wait and get frustrated and move on but to me its more important to do the right checks and research to find the right homes for each animal. This is not a business its a rescue with hopes and goals of saving lives and finding the right placements. Its hard to be run by all volunteers but you couldnt pay me to do what we all do to save these lives. Weve since adopted 2 more pups and will always have rescue dogs in our lives. Thank you to this organization of volunteers for all that they do!

TLDR: This rescue facilities illegal adoptions for profit. Ask for vet records up front - DO NOT WAIT. Do not allow them to email you in a few days. They wont. If they do, verify these vet records by calling the vet office directly. Better yet, avoid these money hungry frauds & adopt from PAWS. HWH prey on caring pet lovers who are ignorant to local adoption laws. I am no longer ignorant to the various ways they have broken the law (225 ILCS 605) aka the Animal Welfare Act. My experience with them specifically violated Section 2, Section 3.2, 3.5 (A/2) & 3.5 (B). (BBB does not allow links in submissions but please search these statutes for further information.)To be brief, these dogs are not vaccinated, spayed/neutered, or microchipped as promised & listed on Pet Finder & other aggregate sites. Representatives promise to send medical records that never come, because they do not exist. When pushed for records they dont even try to provide fake or falsified documents, only take the dog back, to ************* to the next kind-hearted person wanting to do good.Their organization has no physical address & no phone number. No one from the rescue signs off on the adoption paperwork, which in & of itself is illegal. There are no identifiers that tie the individuals running this scam written anywhere. They know what they are doing & have been getting away with hundreds, possibly thousands of fraudulent adoptions. Finally they are clearly for profit. Where does the $500 adoption fee go, if not to caring for the animals? This rescue does not give the animals vet care of any kind. If they did, they would gladly provide paperwork to prove it.HWH ********************* a system that should be helping animals, not exploiting them for profit. There are so many rescues doing it for the right reasons, please avoid this sham.

We are a rescue that is 100% not for profit - We are a limited rescue that has no paid employees and are only made up of volunteers. All volunteers who handle the internal-workings of the group also have full time day jobs therefore, there can be delays in answering emails or providing documents.  We do the best we can with the volunteers we have.  As we are all ******-based organization and do not have a shelter - we are also not government funded and rely solely on our volunteers. At no time have we ever scammed any individuals or kept any fees as "profit".

We always provide vet care for every pet in our organization. All pets pulled adhere to each law of that particular state.  Our site clearly states where the fees for adoption go.  I.e.: Spaying/neutering, vaccines, health certifications, surgeries as needed and additional medical needs and of course feeding.

On this particular review - the client returned the Adopted pet after one and a half-days and claimed she was not satisfied with the pet she chose. The adopter brought the pet to PETCO and had other witnesses a store manager and employee along with our volunteer and ******, that oversaw her holding the pet "hostage" until she received a full refund - even though our contract states 'no refunds' if a pet is adopted and returned. We then issued her a full refund via Paypal in order to take the pet back into our care safely. This adopter and her parent were yelling at all staff and volunteers during this ordeal.
