    Went to Ace Hardware on 45th in *******. Forgot they don't take checks anymore -- so I paid cash. I jokingly said, in a self-deprecating manner, "A lot of us old folks still like to use checks. Where will we be able to shop?" (Seriously. Joking tone. Poking fun at myself. I'm 69.) The clerk said, in a condescending tone, "We get plenty of business without taking checks." It's bad enough suffering the indignities of growing old, without some young girl acting like you are not a valued customer. *** isn't bad overall, but this one interaction has colored my opinion of the Munster store.
