Never again will I take a car to Grease Monkey on Channing. I took a car in for a full service synthetic oil/filter change. A tech came out and tried to "upsell" me some things. Said I needed a new air filter, which I did; they showed it to me and it was pretty dirty. They wanted $35, which I declined, and bought one from ******* and changed it myself for $10. They also said I needed to replace the cabin air filter; they did not show this filter to me. I declined this service, also, and bought one from ******* and replaced it myself. Well, there was no cabin air filter even in the slot, so I'm assuming after they removed it, they didn't put it back, which I never would've known about had I not bought a new one to do myself. Those two things were minor considering the next two items. They said I needed an alignment. This shocked me because I had steering pump/rack work done the week before, and that place had to do an alignment after the steering work. Today I took my car to the mechanic who had done the alignment and showed them the paper work from grease monkey, which didn't really show any information, except that 3 of the 4 tires needed aligning. The mechanic showed me detailed information about what they had done. Because Grease ******* had also recommended that I replace my drive belt (I think they meant the serpetine belt?). I asked them why and he said it had cracks in it. While at my original mechanic's place, I had them look at my belt and I saw it, as well. there were no cracks visible and it did not need to be replaced. It is clear to me that they were trying to sell me things that I didn't need and I no longer trust them.

I had an appointment, at Grease Monkey in ***********, ***** on 05/01/23, for a full diagnostic check, which never happened in my opinion. I took my car in for the appointment at noon that day, and sat in their parking lot describing the situation to the man that was suppose to check my car in for the evaluation. At one point in my description, the tenant decided to as his supervisor, while I continued to wait for him to check my car in to the shop. The cauky, think-you-now-it-all, supervisor never came out to my car to help awnser my concerns. All they did was refer me to go somewhere else, which I finally did for about $1500.00 worth for the repairs, instead of possibly $1000.00. had they taken more time to actually look at my car deeply, rather than just glancing at the outside, Grease Monkey might have been able to fix one problem, which could have saved me about $500.00. Reading other reviews, I think that Grease Monkey should be charged with false advertising , because their website does refer to them fixing minor engine and electrical difficulties, which is why I made an appointment with them in the first place. Again, the *********** store never took my car in for a full diagnostic as I needed done, to find out what the problem really was. Because of this experiance and other reviews I have read, I will never take my car there for basic needs such as new break pads or an oil change again.
