    BEWARE-- FRAUD. Despite signage saying "trades welcome" this place will NOT give you store credit for your trades. I brought in five boxes of what the owner even admitted was "a bunch of really good books" including some valuable collectibles, he asked if I wanted to donate the books "he couldn't sell", and I said sure. I have done this at other places in the past. I got a call of an offer for "$166" I accepted. After I arrived to collect my money, I was FINALLY informed that it was not cash or credit but 166 "points". When I said "okay, well, what can I buy with my ************************************************* "TRADE" IS A DISCOUNT. What I actually got was 50% off store price for paperbacks -- not even a discount on hardcover books. When I asked why I wasn't told when I brought the books in to TRADE that I would receive nothing more than a DISCOUNT for them, he gaslit me, telling me that "nobody buys books. You can't make any money that way" (yet somehow Half Priced Books manages), told me blamed me for not asking about a "dollar amount" for trade, and literally started screaming at me. I will certainly never support this book store again as a buyer or seller. Absolutely shameful.

    This woman simply didn't understand or didn't actually listen when our trade policy was explained to her.  She brought several boxes of books in, and after having our trade policy explained to her and stating that she understood it, left the books and came back a day or two later.  We've been in business since 2005 and have NEVER given cash for trades.  Put simply, our everyday paperback price is 50% off of the retail price of the book. If you bring trades, you receive an extra 25% off, resulting in 75% off the suggested retail price (SRP).  With trades you end up paying only 25% of the retail price of a paperback.  If you bring in 166 books as she did, it means she can buy 166 paperbacks from our store(s) at 75% off the SRP.  She has spewed this hateful, non-factual comment across the internet and, even though I've replied to every one of her comments, continues to accuse us of FRAUD.  She was wrong when she wrote it the first time and is still wrong.  Cash was never offered. Trades are always welcome. I suggest next time she makes sure she's listening when someone explains a policy to her instead of chatting with all the people that came in with her.  Also, we have no employees that would ever scream at anyone, even someone as toxic as this person.  And to be clear, she did not interact with the owner but with one of our very nice and very well-liked employees.
