    I have the same issue as ****** *. But ours is a ML *************** 2017 by an authorized installer as recommended by the store that sold the fireplace. The smell happened and we were told the same - it was a breaking in period smell. In 2020 we had the control unit, and the ***** replaced it was out of warranty, but they sent us the parts for free. They were installed by an authorized technician. Same smell. Fast forward to 2024 same issue. Paid $1725 for the repair, by an authorized technician. Found out the plastic control box melted. With that it all came to light, we were smelling the melting plastic. So, it was a fire hazard as well as toxins being release into our air. We found out that a bulletin was released in 2017 same year we purchased the fireplace - regarding this issue. Neither the store that sold us the fireplace, or the certified installer, either did not pay attention to or ignored the bulletin.We have been working with the manufacturers representative, to no avail. It is always we will hear next week. It has been a month waiting and over two and a half months having this issue. Terrible service. In short, do not purchase a Mendota fireplace, if there is an issue they will not stand behind their product.

    As Mr. *********** states, Mendota did send out a memo in 2017 regarding this ML 39 issue.  The memo was sent to dealers across the *** explaining the problem, explaining the solution and the indicating amount of credit Mendota would be issuing to the dealers once they completed the fix.  Mendota addressed this issue and provided our dealers resolution in 2017.

    Recently Mendota learned that Mr. ************ ML 39 did not receive the updates that the dealers were instructed to complete.  Mendota is not sure why this work was not performed on Mr. ************ ML39.  Mendota has offered to provide instruction, the parts needed for repair and a credit to Mr. ************* dealer as was indicated in the memo distributed in 2017.

    I had a Mendota FV-41 Gas Fireplace DV installed in May 2013. I know their products and also two superb dealers that are very knowledgeable regarding all aspects of installation & care.

    After 15 minutes the fireplace emits a strong smell as described by many customers that have owned them during this period 2012-2014 time period. Bottom line, it was installed properly and we are only one of many whom dealing with this smell. Whether its the paint used in manufacturing or the fire board used during that time period, Mendota failed to take accountability for their product.

    The amount of documentation on Hearths.com is off the wall from customers with the same problem. I need mine fixed by Mendota ; it is now due to have the pilot assembly replaced with a stainless steel updated version. Not doing it until, Johnson Gas Company sends out a representative to my home and shows some concern to rectify this problem.

    Common Mendota ... being top shelf means taking pride and ownership for your product. I brought your name to Maine and many have been sold. Need your help !!! Please .
