Warning! Take your car somewhere else if want competent service by honest people. We took our car to Midas in **** for a simple oil change. The car leaked oil after the change. When we took the car to a different shop that had done good work for us in the past, they quickly determined that whoever had last changed the oil had stripped the threads in the oil pan where the drain plug screws into it. The hole could not be re-threaded because the oil pan metal is was too hard, so the whole oil pan would need to be replaced at a cost of $700+. We had to contact Midas five times before they would respond to our complaint. The bottom line is that they took no responsibility for wrecking our oil pan and could offer us only a courtesy inspection in their Ankeny shop, with us bearing the cost of any additional work that would be required to fix the problem. ***** this shop!Midas Auto Service Experts

We had spoken with Mr. ******* about the claim and offered him to bring the vehicle back to the **** location or if he didn't want to take it there he could take it to our Ankeny location so we could assess the situation and try and come up with a solution. Mr. ******* refused that offer and just wants us to pay for a oil pan which we will not until we can see what's going on.Review fromAmelia W

I (38F) took my Jeep there for an oil change because I I had a coupon for a $59.99 ****************** change. When they looked at my Jeep they said they wouldnt honor the coupon because it was for 5 quarts and I needed 6, so they said it would be full price, ***** plus tax. I called and told my husband who then called the shop anonymously and requested an identical quote. They told him they would honor the coupon and just charge $10 for the extra quart, which would have made the total $69.99. I told him they werent honoring that so he called and spoke to them about it. He told me the man was extremely rude but agreed to honor the coupon. When they came back to me they offered $30 off, but suddenly the price of the oil change was $102, so the total was still $85. I told them to just do it because I wasnt feeling well and the whole thing was getting ridiculous. It was at that point they took my car off the lift and refused to work on it, saying my husband had made too much of a problem. I absolutely feel they were trying to take advantage of me because I was a woman there alone.Midas Auto Service Experts

I (******* Carpe- Senior Director of Operations) spoke with the customer and store about this. The customer came in for a full synthetic oil change with a coupon for $59.99. This coupon is $30 off the regular price of $89.99. This price is for up to 5qts of oil and does not include shop supplies and taxes. The vehicle required 6qts of oil which added $12.99 to the $89.99 price bringing the total prior to discounts to $102.98. The $30 discount was applied to the $102.98 which brought the total with taxes and shop supplies to $84. The husband was told by the wife that the price was still $89.99 plus tax and this is why he was upset. I explained to him this was a miscommunication between him and his wife as he was not present for the service. He told me he would be ok with the $84 for the oil change. The store refused service at the time due to the wife (customer) stating she was feeling sick and taken advantage of. We did not feel it would be wise to do service if the customer was not ok with the charges.Review fromEvelyn H

I had a problem with underneath the car it wouldn't move called Midas in ********* **, got it towed there they then told me it was the drive shack they said would cost $1,070 and gave me a estimate with several things wrong, Specifically, left outter tire rod $189, wheel alignment $240, back exhaust $489, breaks $329 so I said well I give you a call when I'm ready to start getting the work done, so I had them do the front drive shaft which they told me it should drive good after that but they **** told me there is no need to get the drive shaft done without getting the wheel alignment done so when they gave me back the car they said we fixed it to where you can drive locally until you get that drive shaft done so after we got the car it wasn't giving much gas it wasn't giving enough pressure to pull off , so I called and told them and they said they stuffed the car so it's probably because of the drive shaft , so March 1st I took the car in at 8 am I had them fix the front drive shaft, the left outter tire rod, and also the wheel alignment which cost $1,646 by 12pm they were done I picked the car up and they told me that they recommend me take it to a specialist to get the transmission looked at after I left the shop the car wouldn't go over the speed of 20 and it wouldn't reverse so when I called them to alert them they said yea that's your transmission going out now I'm out of $1,646 and a carMidas Auto Service Experts

The customer came in on 1/27/24 with a "nasty rattle" and we inspected the vehicle. We found the front driveshaft was broken causing the rattle, the outer left tie rod was very loose, the exhaust from the catalytic converter back was missing, and the front brakes needed replaced. The customer approved the repairs needed for the driveshaft. ***** waiting for the part to arrive, the customer decided not to repair the vehicle. We charged the customer for the restocking fee and for taking the old driveshaft out. The customer was informed that the vehicle should not be driven as it could cause some other issues. We still have the old driveshaft if needed. The customer came back on 3/1/24 requesting us to put in the driveshaft and the outer tie rod end after driving the vehicle 1100 miles. ***** pulling the vehicle in we noticed the transmission was slipping, we informed the customer and were directed to continue with repair, and we noted it on the invoice. When the customer picked the vehicle up, we informed the customer that the transmission was only going to get worse until they get it looked at. At the time of completion, the vehicle would drive forward and reverse (we had to back it out of the bay and test drive after the alignment).Review fromtina B

Midas will get 0 stars! I took my car in because the a/c wasn't blowing cold air with that they fixed my compressor, 2days later a weird noise was coming from that same area so I took it back and then they said my pully/tensioner needed replaced. I drove it home and again that same noise was going on so I took it back again then they said I needed a new serpentine belt again changed that! And still that noise was still there so again like a fool I took it back again and then they say now my value cover gasket/timing cover gasket need replaced and also a oil change... UGH I was beginning to think they were using me because I am a female but I let them fix it anyway but still no success still horrible noise so with all of this being said after the fifth time taking it to there shop now they tell me my engine is blown and it will be **** dollars! No No there is no way I had my car in your shop 5 times in 2 months and **** dollars later for you not to know this! I got it checked out by another mechanic and they said the belt was not put back on the car correctly in which that belt is attached to the pulley they changed a/c, power steering, water pump ect. in which being that was not put back on correctly it wore out my water pump and antifreeze started leaking into my oil. I called regional manager and he says they will pay half of the damage and I have to pay the other half! Absolutely not I will not give you another ***** you are responsible for this damage not me! My car was perfectly fine besides no cold air from A/C and now I have a blown engine because of them! Not recommended they do not care about there customers especially females. Trust me I am not letting this situation go but i do want everyone to know Midas deserves 0 stars but it made me do at least 1Review fromClifton H

We have attempted to speak with Clifton about the situation calling him 5 times and he doesn't answer the phone and his voicemail states it is not accepting messages. If we get an opportunity to speak with him we will address his concern.
