    When asking a health care provider if their insurance is accepted, they really want to know if the procedures are covered.
    I am retired military and Delta Dental is my dental insurance carrier for my wife and me.
    We are senior citizens and trust people to be completely honest with information.
    The Office Manager told my wife they accept Delta Dental.
    That answer was vague and misleading; it certainly did not answer the intent of the question.
    Until November, 2021, Dr. Williams was "In Network" with Delta Dental; now he is not.
    Health care providers often opt out of the "Network" to charge higher fees.
    My wife had an exam procedure on October 6, 2022.
    That procedure cost $160.00, which my wife had to pay at the time.
    The Usual and Customary fee for that procedure is $73.00 and covered if "In Network".
    My wife had oral surgery on October 14, 2022.
    The dentist charged $1,090.00 which my wife had to pay at the time.
    The Usual and Customary fee for that procedure is $433.00.
    My wife asked if any discounts are available; such as veteran, retired educator, etc.
    The Office Manager said they provide a discount for cash if you do not have insurance.
    Having insurance seems irrelevant if the procedures are not covered.
    The Office Manager did not inform us that Dr. Williams is no longer "In Network".
    Had we known that up front, other arrangements could have been made.
    I have no personal expectations from this posting.
    I just want to warn others to make sure they fully understand what they are told.
