      I’m a former patient & left after they refused my legal right to decline services. Before I met DrFortson I was scheduled for ultrasounds every month of pregnancy w/o my consent. I was scheduled for a pap-smear @ 16 weeks of pregnancy w/o my consent. I have no risk factors that would consider my pregnancy to be high risk. Someone at a desk saw my bmi, & scheduled these expensive & excessive procedures w/o a Dr from their office having met me. When I called to decline the services, I was told I could go elsewhere if I didn’t comply to their demands. I repeatedly asked “so I do not have the right to decline services?” I told them I would not be back & hung up the phone. I went to a new DR & he was very surprised at all of the scans. He thought it was “very strange” they scheduled them w/o other risk factors & they wouldn’t allow me to decline a pap-smear. Thank God, I found a provider to allow me to have a say in my medical care. At my 3rd appt, I was given 3 options to pay off my $5000 bill. We have a high deductible & coins, so I knew we would be paying a lot oop, however this business has no compassion for their patients. We were shocked when we saw we’d owe them over $1000/m & our total bill to be paid before 28 weeks of pregnancy. I spoke to Kelly. She was so cold towards me, which left me in tears. We made the decision to put our family into debt & put our monthly payments on credit cards. Today I received a letter. Midtown OBGYN (Kelly) decided to further hurt my family by firing me as a pt. They labeled me as “noncompliant” & difficult to communicate with. They are fully aware that I ended the patient-provider relationship.
      If you are overweight or your family is on a budget, seek prenatal care elsewhere. If you believe you have a say in your healthcare, seek care elsewhere. If you think you deserve to be treated w/ compassion, respect, & dignity, please seek care elsewhere.
