A certain owner of Sconiers Funeral Home in Columbus, Ga took out an insurance policy on our love one and listed Scanners Funeral Home as the funeral home that would receive the body and named herself as the beneficiary. The policy was was not to cover any if your family member's funeral expenses, but only to be paid out to her, one of the owners of Sconiers instead. Our love one passed in Oct 2022 and we still have not put her to rest because the policy was to benefit that person at the funeral home and not our love one. That same woman at the funeral home was also named beneficiary on three additional policies taken out on our love one. Luckly I was able to change the beneficiary on those three policies and had I known about the forth policy, I would have changed that one as well. This woman listed herself as the cousin of our love one and she is not, nor has she ever been related to us. It's sad and hurtful that the people we trust and count on in our moment of bereavement would take advantage of people for the sake of making an extra buck. Not only did the funeral home stand to profit from preparing her body, but the woman herself did as well because she made herself the beneficiary. I say to this woman at Sconiers.... You can keep every penny of that $2,000 policy that you fraudulently obtained to benefit youself and your funeral home and may you lose that amount and a hundred times more. If you can do this to one elderly person, how many more are you doing this to? To the residents of Columbus, Ga and surrounding areas that have chosen Sconiers Funeral Home as the funeral home that you want to send your love ones to, check your policies. Read the fine print and make sure that people at this funeral home do not benefit from your love one's death. She took advantage of an elderly person and lied to the insurance company saying that she was the cousin of our family member.
