We are building new single family home. Things started off great with Cat 5 but have quickly gone down hill. The quoting process was fine. They sent someone out to take measurements of the windows, told us our openings were wrong, had concrete group come out to fix but they actually werent wrong. Cat 5 then said, they really dont measure windows when I expressed my annoyance. Fast forward, windows are in and we are on day 51 of them not passing inspection. They did NOT follow installation requirements for PGT. Owner sometimes text me back, call the office they have minimal things to say. Its clearly not important to them. Cat 5 just blames the inspector, when in reality they are the ones who didnt follow the installation guidelines. They are delaying the progression of our home. Terrible experience in the end. Would not recommend.

This customer purchased ********************* from us as an owner builder. As an owner builder, this customer is responsible to ensure that all openings are correct for proper installation of all windows and doors, per product approvals and Florida Building Code. It is standard operating procedure in ******* construction and per approvals for windows with a ****** to be installed utilizing a 1x **** in masonry openings. The reason for this, is to allow extra space for proper leveling, shimming, and waterproofing. This method allows the 1/2" ****** to cover perfectly over the 1x ****ing for proper waterproofing. Nearly every single opening had to be ****ed with at least a 2x instead of a 1x, or had to have the ****ing custom cut to fit into each opening. The reason the customer thinks "They were not actually wrong" is because instead of the ***** fixing the issues with all of the openings, we just re-framed every single opening to make the windows fit and did not invoice the customer for the associated $1,900 change order that should have been charged. The customer is correct in that we do not typically provide an initial measure on openings in new construction. It is standard practice to confirm openings for all windows and doors before the openings are every created, not after. This customer never reached out to confirm any measurements or openings for their windows or doors. We only provided the initial measure prior to installation because we were uninvolved with the masonry openings created and were suspicious of the sizes that were actually onsite. The installation is per PGT *** requirements per their engineered testing & approvals. Installation is complete and is awaiting this customer to call the inspection. Customer posted review prior to job completion or final inspection. Customer owes significant balance of over *************** is more important than our customer base, which is why we have no negative reviews anywhere and continue to provide constant ************************
