The scam artists ask the consumers to wire money to them associated with the transfer of the consumers' timeshare deeds. Once the money is wired, the consumers never hear back from them, and their timeshares are not sold.
The criminals are perpetrating the scam by using the name Red Dragon Mortgage, LLC, which is not an actual business. The actual business Red Dragon Mortgage, LLC has been closed since 2008.
The scam artists also use Hilton Grand Vacation and other well known business names in the documents to create the appearance that they are a legitimate company that can be used for the deed title transfers.
Consumers filing BBB complaints have received emails and/or phone calls from fraudulent people claiming to be a buyer of a timeshare that the consumers own. Consumers have been advised by these buyers that the consumers owe back maintenance fees and ask the consumers to wire transfer the money directly to them to pay for these fees. Consumers filing the complaints have been scammed out of amounts ranging from $900-$2,670.
