The employee Kelly ****** at dealership Coggin Honda is using fraudulent sales tactics. The sales representative Jet "Sam" **** called us in to complete our lease buyout at the dealership instead of online at American Honda Finance assuring us they would change no additional fees to which we went in for yesterday 10/31/22 to complete.   He put in an "estimate" for DMV transfer fees of $498 and said the finance guy Kelly ****** would determine the actual and credit back the difference once inside his office.  He had a fee on his computer he had written as "Title" for $98, in addition to transfer fees.  He said these were unavoidable and don't go to the dealer but on further question as to what the $98 was which as we sat in his office with the Florida DMV schedule pulled up to verify he became hostile in demeanor and then admitted the "Title" fee was in fact a fee he was charging for "doing the paperwork at the dealership".  This was not an "unavoidable fee" that was going to the DMV as he had said moments before.  The sale rep had assured us repeatedly there would be no extra fees if we came in to complete paperwork at the dealer.  Saying they had already charged us a dealer fee when we bought the car.   This 2019 Honda we were buying out the lease on was our second purchase from this dealership.  When we purchased it, a similar thing happened where they promised a fee wouldn't be charged and the finance guy did so anyway and acted hostile about our objection. At that point then we were worn down from so much of their constant back and forth duplicity and we just wanted to just finish and end the experience.  From two experiences now it seems apparent this is likely systemic behavior.  The sales rep makes promises fully aware the finance guy isn't intent on keeping or bury the fee in a shifty way. However it is certain Kelly ****** lied to our face and misrepresented the charges on the contract. He was trying to take advantage of an 80 year old vet.

****************** expressed interest in purchasing out his lease to Coggin Honda Jacksonville. On 10/31/2022 We printed a proposal with a breakdown of the figures required to complete this transaction. This included his buy out ********, taxes, tag fees and tag agency fees. On this proposal the tag and tag agency fees are combined totaling $498.00, and only an estimate. This form was signed by both parties. Continuing our process, ****************** sat with *********************** who did a tag fee calculation using our titling service provider. This dollar amount was less than the provided estimate from the proposal given earlier in the sales process totaling $434.85. **************** passed these savings to him reducing the total dollar amount from the original agreement. At this time ****************** expressed that he was not willing to pay the tag and tag agency fees. It was explained that these fees were a required part of his transaction to properly complete his request to buy out his lease. Before ****************** left, it was offered by the dealership to cover the $98.00 tag agency fee as a courtesy. ****************** rejected this offer expressing that he did not want to continue the transaction. Respecting ********************** wishes the transaction was canceled. At no time was it the intention on Coggin Honda Jacksonville nor its employees to use any fraudulent sales tactics with ******************. During his visit all pricing and fees were openly disclosed and it was our goal to provide him with a seamless transaction with his lease buy out.

This dealer's portrayal of what transpired is disingenuous and misleading. They are playing dumb now like it was an innocent mistake. We were reached out to and lured by the dealer to come into the dealership and our lease buyout paperwork would be completed for us there as a courtesy to save us time and paperwork and assured repeatedly there would be no fees beyond those which go to the ******* Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles (www.flhsmv.gov). Commonly referred to as the *** and what the dealer here refers to as the **********.Interestingly when we arrived the sales agent began paperwork and had us sign an estimate of fees of $498 which we knew to be nearly double what the actual fees for Tag and Title going to the *** would be. The sales agent assured us this was just an estimate. Once we got to the finance ***************************, he would determine the exact *** fees to charge. In hindsight its clear this eye popping estimate of Tag and Title fees was grooming behavior so that they could later show an overall reduction in this figure while still tacking on a $98 fee to the dealer surreptitiously. Upon questioning this fee with the finance *************************** he presented to us on his computer the documentation he had drawn up with a description for the fee as ************.This fee was fraudulently presented to us by *********************** as going to the ********** when in reality it was a fee going to the dealer which ***** in a moment slipped up his charade and admitted in passing was for document preparation. ***** was fast talking and full of duplicity. Lease buyouts can be done directly with ******** Honda Finance and through the mail. Beyond the pre negotiated lease buyout price there is Tax, Tag, and Title. For our 2019 CRV EX-L $19459.49 was the total buyout price provided by ******** Honda Finance which included 6% ******* sales tax and the 1.5% discretionary tax on the first $5000 for ***** county. We verified the tax total and the actual ********** fees by calling the ********** (flhsmv.gov) themselves. Those fees are (give or take a few bucks for expedited service etc): $36.85 Renew registration fee $77.75 title transfer This den of snakes lured us in from across town with promises of saving us time as a repeat customer but instead they fraudulently misrepresented ************* ********** fees and wasted half a day of time in order to make more money off of us.
