Medcom is such a hassle. I am a teacher who has Medcom through my employer. My issues with Medcom are in regard to ** ************** FSA account. ********************** has horrible communication even though I asked all of the questions prior to signing up for it. Recently, I elected a change with my benefits department on the site and selected, daycare expenses decreased or increased. My payroll lead communicated with an individual from Medcom and I had to send in a form stating the change and why. I put the effective date as March 1st. On Feb 29th, my new amount was deducted from my paycheck by my payroll. On March 1st, I checked my account and no funds, so I called to inquire about this issue. I was told to wait 2-3 days, and I sternly explained that my daycare expenses were due on March 1st. I was told that a request for a manager to call me was put in. It is March 3rd, and still no funds! I didnt even get my old amount in my account. This situation is jeopardizing my good-standing relationship with my sons daycare. I have to pay the daycare for before and after care in order to work and provide for my son. This situation is affecting my life in a negative way because the funds were taken out of my check. I cant afford to have to pay another $250 when I already had the $250 taken out of my check to be deposited into Medcom. I will no longer be signing up for any accounts with this company. It is too much if a hassle.

Thank you for sharing your feedback. We apologize for any inconvenience you have experienced. We manually updated your account with the changes that were made to your payroll deductions in mid-February upon receipt of the documentation. Unfortunately, a file feed transfer, which is common for many employers, was subsequently sent to update your account effective 3/1 for your deduction. The way the data came through on the file feed resulted in your February 29th deduction to not post to your account. This is not typical for changes of this nature and we are contacting the appropriate resources to make updates to the file when such events occur in the future. We appreciate you bringing this to our attention so that we can address the error. It appears when you contacted our office on Monday, March 4, your account was updated to reflect the February 29th deduction and funds were immediately made available.

I signed up for a Medcom FSA through my employer. Shortly into the year my card stopped working. This was a family plan so I assumed my wife had used it and it had no balance. After several months of the same I called and was informed our account was locked. The reasoning Medcom gave was the dental provider didn't provide enough details blah, blah, blah. To get my card unlocked quickly I paid $200 back to Medcom so I could access our funds again. I later used the Medcom card at several doctors visits, urgent care, hospital, etc. All were legitimate claims and in nearly every case Medcom demanded more information - as though the bill from a doctor or hospital was insufficient. I requested specific the specific reason the 4-5 claims were denied. No response. I've sent in receipts multiple times. No response. This company is a complete scam. They hold YOUR money and make you jump through hoops to access it. Avoid at all costs. They are NOT worth whatever minimal amount you save in taxes. It will be spent 10 fold in time dealing with their horrible customer service.

Please accept our apologies for the inconvenience and dissatisfaction you've experienced with our service. Your feedback is crucial to us, and we take your concerns seriously. Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA) are governed by the under Section 125 of the Internal Revenue Code and the employers plan documents. These regulations require all FSA claims to be substantiated, with few exceptions, regardless of if they are submitted as a manual claim or via a debit card. When an employer outsources the administration to a third-party administrator (***), the *** is typically the one to request the documentation from the participant. Unfortunately, debit card technology is not advanced enough to provide specific details of card activity to include the description of services rendered, cost of service, patient name, and patient responsibility, which is information that is required to comply with IRS regulations. Therefore, it leaves the burden on the employee to substantiate the expenses. We take no satisfaction for having to request this documentation from you and recognize it can be cumbersome. However, to protect the tax deductibility of the employers program, we must abide by IRS regulations and request the documentation. With that said, we take a number of steps to minimize the substantiation requirements as much as possible under Code Section 125. It is with these steps, we requested receipts from for 5 of the ****************** 2023. We are reviewing the documentation you submitted and will be in touch with you.

My employer put money into an account with this company in April of 2022. It took them one month short of an entire year and several complaints on my part with my employer for them to put the money into my account. They have just put it into an account for me today but I have had to check in multiple times and there is no way for an individual to resolve this issue with them over the phone. They have been collecting interest on this money for a year and denying they have it every time that I called. It was only 400 dollars, but if I hadn't continuously complained I would have lost this money which I'm assuming is a business strategy of theirs. If you are an employer looking for a company to work with, I would strongly recommend NOT working with Medcom. If no starts had been an option on here, that is what I would give this company.

We understand the frustration when funds are not available timely. In the case of HSAs, Medcom neither processes nor receives the contributions. Contributions are processed by one of two methods initiated by the employer or their designee. The funds are transferred directly to the bank and not received at Medcom to eliminate any delays with posting contributions. Medcom does not gain anything, including interest, when funds are not posted.
